Hey all. Just signed up and hoping to meet some people close by that like to go diving. Wife backed out during the open water certification and buddy has busted his eardrum leaving me solo :depressed:

Anyone in or near Cookeville that ever needs a dive partner let me know.

Hi! Welcome! I'm in Western KY. I frequently dive a quarry in Hopkinsville, KY, probably a couple of hours away from you. If you ever find yourself going to Pennyroyal quarry look me up for a dive or 2.

Hello from Dunlap, TN. I am probably an hour from you.

You might check out the Parrot Island divers' club based in the Nashville area. They've got a Bonaire trip scheduled for March.

Richard.

Thanks for the replies.

cardzard - Cool. I'll check that out.

tstormdiver - Been to the Pennyroyal quarry a few times. I'll definitely look you up next time I go.

Mopar - any good places up around there? I've heard some people dive Dale Hollow down here in my area, but it doesn't really appear to be a good place in my opinion. Not sure though, never actually dove there.

drrich2 - Marcos was who I got my certification through. Some good people there. I'm hoping to get more involved this year. Last year was a rough one. Buddy I usually dove with ruptured his eardrum and we spent most of the time trying to work on getting his equalizing problems fixed.

I've been to Bonaire 4 times, all with the Parrot Island group. People split up and go do their own thing when they want, but Marcos and a few do some group dives so it could be a good match if it turns out you're traveling without your buddy. If it's of interest, here are 2 of my trip reports:

From March 2010 trip.

From March 2009 trip.

In fact, if your buddy is good to dive but wants the option to stay shallow if need be, and not worry about 'holding up the group,' Bonaire shore diving might be a better option than a dive boat trip. Just a thought.

See? Lots of potential buddies around..... Hopefully you'll be able to dive as much as you would like to, now!

Cookeville! My hometown and where most of my family still lives. Not something I see often... especially on a dive board.
