My wife and I just returned from the beautiful island of Roatan. We stayed at Fantasy Island Beach Resort. My review will be in two parts The Resort and the Dive Operation
Resort
The check-in was very quick we were assigned to room 110 a few steps from the main lobby. Our room had a King size bed ( quite firm but comfortable after getting 2 additional pillows). The room has been recently painted there was a new air conditioner and the room was cool.
During our first day we had some scary water problems from no water to black coloured water. These issues were resolved after a broken pipe was repaired. There was also a lot of landscaping being done at the resort
Housekeeping staff were great keeping fresh drinking water in the fridge and leaving towel art on the bed. Not stealing my new iPad which I carelessly left out ( the room safe was big enough for our 15" macbook). The balcony with a view of the water was great at night. We didn't have problems with bugs as the resort was fogging every morning.
The food was quite good with options for seafood lovers and non-seafood eaters, I enjoyed the cheese burgers at lunch. Lunch and dinner were served buffet style and a la carte. ( they like to use cilantro ). The wait staff were all very attentive by the third day they just brought our drinks anticipating our orders.
Dive Operation
On arrival we were given an orientation and promptly set out on a shore dive to the Prince Albert Wreck off the dive gazebo. we set up our gear at the dive shop and we were taken to the gazebo by small boat.
The next day we were introduced to our Dive Master Darry and boat captain Kevin. Darry was awesome very patient making sure that those with cameras got great pics and those in our dive group who wanted too, got to kill many Lion fish. I didn't feel the two interfered with each other.Kevin was great helping my wife with her gear as she had to doff her gear in the water to climb up the ladder ( past knee surgery ). An other aspect we appreciated was the dive ended below the moared boat and those who still had air could extend thier dive this was good because we joined our dive party mid way through their vacation.
The boats were great! we were on the Little Dev for all but one day when we used the new boat the Malorca. we preferred the little dev as the ladder was deeper in the water. I was told by Kevin that the new boat to be delivered soon has longer ladders.

On the second day of our vacation we received an e-mail from the resort stating the booking agent we reserved with was trying to move our reservation due to payment issues. The next day I spoke with the assistant General Manager who asked if I could call the booking agent Time 2 Dive stating that they have not received any payment for our vacation. We were never asked for money and the response from Time 2 Dive was only that payment was forwarded. Either way aside from this small blip our vacation was perfect from the weather , accommodation, dining ,service and of course the spectacular diving. I will return in the future
