Anyone diving in Bahrain? See several PADI shops in the country, but none seem to have websites. Trying to understand the quality of diving, types of sites and conditions. Any opportunity for technical diving? Deep or wrecks?

Did talk to Navy MWR who offers dive trips and instruction. Also found two PADI Five Star shops. Hopefully the diving will be decent. Hoping to get in some deco dives - probably a bridge too far.

Never dove while being on DET there, but sure miss the going down to Hunters bar. Is that place still open downtown?

Hey Guys,

There are a few places that will certify you and the quality is pretty good. The diving out here is not the best. There are a few wrecks that have some good marine life (Don't get too excited MK706) on them but they are about a 90 min boat ride towards Kuwait.

Let me know if I can help you guys with anything else.

Forgot to add.... there is no tech here. It is way to shallow and the wrecks are all old and busted up. Nothing can really be penetrated.

I would go to Coral Beach Dive Center if you are looking for a PADI Cert. The instructors there are good and they run the best show.

it's been a few years, but I dove in bahrain in 2002 while stationed there in at C5F.

An Aussie girl named Robin ran a dive shop named Aquatique in Manama. I think someone told me it's not there anymore. Anyway, diving is fine, the pearl diving can be fun and I found enough pearls to have made into alot of jewelry for my wife. you need a shovel to get deep, unless you dive in the channel.

take care,
john

Did two tanks with Scubamasters. Did the pearl hunt dive. Didn't find any pearls, but did slaughter about 30 oysters looking. Other folks on the boat did find some. Water was warm, about 84F, about 20' vis. Boat was quite fast, but not a purposely built dive boat. Boat left from the Marina Club. Kinda of tough to exit/enter. Dive was shallow, like 6-9 feet shallow. Apparently there is some good diving about 90 km away.

Going out next week with the Coral Beach Club, dives arranged by Navy MWR. Looking forward to seeing some sea life.

Don't think my tech gear will see much use this dive season.
