Just over a month ago, I purchased an Al80, NEW, from an LDS.
Less than 25 dives later, its acting up.
The tank is leaking from where the valve screws into the tank

When rinsing my gear at the beach shower, I heard a leaking noise, and upon taking a look, there were bubbles escaping from this area!
The little voice in my head (not my conscience, but the little voice that tells you about looming danger) told me that this tank just turned into a bomb / rocket waiting to launch. I drained the tank to less than 100psi (it was at 2200 when I started- we called our dive due to current/vis/problems)
I don't have my receipt and am going to be PI$$ED IF THE LDS GIVES ME A HARD TIME

The O-ring is either wearing out or not seated properly. I would highly suggest (before diving it any more) getting it in for service,... or if you know how (it ain't rocket science), drain the cylinder, unscrew the valve, replace the O-ring (size 214). Put a very thin film of lubricant on the new O-ring before placing it on the valve. Tighten the valve back on according to manufacturer's specs.

Respectfully, it is not "wearing out". Its static, its new. Sometimes salt crystals work their way into strange places, but at 25 dives that is a stretch.

I have had several leaking over the years and it is a PITA, not a bomb. It is very possible that a small piece of grit is on the o-ring. Opening, cleaning and replacing will fix this. Also possible is a small defect on the mating surface of the tank or valve. These need to be inspected carefully and your LDS can do this. I suspect they will take care of you gratis. After they fix it, place the tank underwater in your tub at home. Even the smallest leak will be apparent if they missed something.

Replace the O-ring and check it for leads with soapy water. ( Lefty-loosy, righty-tighty.)

I thought you didn't lube tank o-rings?

It may be that the valve was not properly installed and has slightly unscrewed. Drain the tank to zero and try to unscrew the valve by hand without the help of a wrench, if you can the valve was not installed tight enough.

A note- I watched the guy at the shop tighten the valve and then hit it with the mallet so it was tight.

Anyway, onto the verdict!
I went to the LDS, and they drained the last 100psi out of the tank, and upon unscrewing the valve, we saw the problem, salt buildup between the lip of the tank and the valve (exteriorly)

Guess ill start rinsing the tank more thoroughly. It was coated with salt :-\

Drain tank, take the valve off, check the thread and o-ring are clean, check its the correct o-ring and replace the valve. Its not that uncommon for neck o-rings to leak especially in new tanks.
Simple to do at home.
