Yah, the magic filter is plastic, and decently thick, its not just a thin film. Its sturdy feeling. Say 1/16" thick, or a little more. (Totally going by memory) It is rigid. That was another option I was thinking of too. The magic filter is only $20 bucks, so could use the blurfix with the clear lens and attach this to the outside. Need a color comparison between the 2 brands.

okay.... we drank the koolaid today. I should have mine within a week or so, and will definitely take it on a test run a few times before our Cozumel trip coming up in 5 weeks.

It works very well in shallow to medium depths and it's small size lets you shoot from unique angles. Look forward to seeing your videos.

I haven't tried the Magic filter but from what I heard only URpro and Magic filter make filters specifically for under water use.......

It would be interesting to see a comparison. I have a feeling they both would perform well, but one might outperform the other at specific depths depending on water clarity and sunlight. Another factor is the filters add red but also cut light. So the filter that does more "correction" will also most likely cut more light. As you go deeper, the need for light might be more important than the need for color. The GoPro does start to look noisey and grainy when you go deeper because of loss of light.

I have been intending to do a filter comparison between a few of them so I will get one of these filters and try attach it to my Blurfix in some way along with some basic colour filters that some people use and will do some side by side tests with them all to see how they work in the gopro cameras.

Argh, backordered again.

Robint, when are you going to be in Cozumel? I'm heading there April 7th.

At the show this last weekend they said they had sold out their current order and where on backorder, but they where expecting another 200 in by the end of this week, so keep an eye on it.

Thanks Wolvan, I received a very courteous, apologetic email from Michael Tamayo at Backscatter. My order will ship when the next shipment comes in. I don't know about everyone else, but my decision to go with the backscatter was due to the ability to add the filter underwater. I want to be able to shoot unfiltered video on the surface and upon entry into the water and only add the magic filter once submerged.

That would be great. If possible could you include a Lee Filter color 779 ? That is what I use on my GoPro.

as soon as some one gets the case, put photos up of it. on backscatters website there seams to be three different photos of the same product. one has a silver retaining clip for the glass, another is flat black, and another has a black ring around the hole in the case for the lens to got through.

as you can see, the first one has the silver retaining clip, the second one has the clip now flat black but has the clear plastic around the lens opening, and the third one has that section blacked out... wonder which one we would get? i want the all blacked out one please!
