Yes, Billy is my hero. :D

My whole issue is bottom time at the bridge. I carry enough air that, if I don't have to swim, I could get four or more hours in per dive. If I have to kick any significant amount, my bottom time can drop down to less than three hours.

My "standard" procedure at the bridge is to enter three hours prior to high tide, anticipating that the changing current gets me easily back to the west entry beach, after spending the first couple of hours "out front", where there's very little current, even three hours prior to high tide.

My one attempt at diving the east side with that early a start was a real eye opener. Maybe if I hadn't gotten under the little bridge, itself, so early, it might not have been so bad. Could be that even with a scooter the current over on that side would be too much. I tend to avoid the east side, anyway, though, as it's so "deep". :D

As to going "slow", the majority of the time I'm not "going" at all. Once I find something cool, I just lie there and wear out those camera and strobe electrons. Typically, sometime during that period, *other* cool stuff starts showing its face in the same area. Sometimes, it was there all along and I just didn't notice it. :D

So, I wouldn't need a long "run-time" with the scooter, but I would need one powerful enough to drag my lard ass around against some current. It would mostly just spend its time sitting next to my weighted dive flag "reel" and (sometimes) camera box with the old camera and wide angle lens (with no strobes). Maybe I could mount those two gadgets on said scooter. :)

Have no interest in getting "pricey". If what I wanted one for could get done for 400 bucks, then it might be something for me to consider. But, when I can only get there every couple of months (with a six hour drive each way) - and seem to be running out of new and unique things to take pitchers of. . .

I am in the process of mounting a compass & depth guage to my scooter. Some folks do mount a camera as well. I let my scooter haul the flag. I took a reel that I had and made it just for the bridge. Put some thicker string on it and only about 25' or so and bright pink. That way no bridge hang ups with string playing out. Seems to work well. If you pm me when you are going to the bridge I will bring my scooter and you can see if it will haul your lard ass around. :D That might give you an idea if you would be satisfied with a slower scooter. I ride it against the current. No problems so far at the bridge.

NEED HELP from fellow trolls. Could someone PM me about where the froggies have been sighted?? Maribi and I have been looking for the last couple of months with no luck at all . . . . .

Thanks for the help with Fish IDs.

Here's my gallery from my BHB trip/Reef Photo class. First time at BHB and first time shooting a DSLR.

Blue Heron Bridge 2013 - a set on Flickr

I can say with certainty that it won't be my last time visiting.

WOW is right. Very nice. What is your camera system?

Guy, Sandra is shooting tonight at the BHB...and she knows this frogfish :)
I will probably show up and freedive for an hour or so....

We are going to try to get up there Wednesday or Thursday so pm me about where she finds it.

We could not get out this weekend, our dog has glaucoma so spend Sunday at the vet . . .

Diving tonite? Whose boat? We might also do the night dive scheduled for the 6th. Would like to meet up again soon. Did you get out Sunday?

Dove yesterday with some others from SB. I show 80 degrees on my computer. It was extremely windy, causing a lot of chop, which made kiting the flag around a lot of fun :).

Here's some of the photos I took. Thanks for the photo editing tip Jim, it really helped bring out the colors!

Oh and yes, that's Buzz Lightyear... Rescued by no other than our Dive Diva :) When I was reviewing pictures at home, my 6 year old daughter saw that and immediately erupted into laughter. She loves Toy Story and her favorite character is Buzz. She was so tickled that Buzz was scuba diving and looking for Nemo (her other favorite show).

I have been following this "Blue Heron Bridge Trolls" thread for a long time. It seems like a really great group of people and an interesting dive. My wife and I have long joked about finding a bridge to live under for pour retirement, so diving the Blue Baron Bridge would be especially meaningful to me.

I will be vacationing in West Palm Beach (Singer island Merriott resort) at the end of July. Most of my trips to the area I have done boat dives with JDC or others, but this time would like to try something different. I was wondering if it might be possible to meet up with some folks and dive on the 1st or 2nnd of August? My wife doesn't dive, although she might come along to hangs out in the park and check out home sites, so I need a dive buddy.

Are you staying at the Marriott Resort and Spa on Singer Island? Or at one of the Marriott time shares?
The Resort and Spa is really an awesome hotel for divers....few here are familiar with what is so special about it...
If you guys are to be at the Resort, I would love for you to post about it afterwards.....
As to the diving, just remind us again as this gets to be a day away or so...many of us dive there several times a week ( like my wife Sandra), so it should be easy for you guys to get "the tour".... :)

Would not suggest living under BHB... you have to be out of the park by 10PM :D :D :D... .

'course, you could park your sailboat just off shore..

:D :D :D :D
