Extending Can Light Cord

Was wondering where I could get the actual cord used for a can light so that I could extend my current can light for sidemount use?

Your friendly, neighborhood hardware store. Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Buy it by the foot. It's 16/2 SJOOW and should cost at or under $1/ft.

Yup. Doby: Be super cautious with it or you risk seriously flooding your light.

I think UWLD will do cord replacement on any canister light, and it's ~$60+shipping to have it done.

@victorzamora and I both extended our can lights with no issues, but he also used to work as an engineer at a company that designed and built aerospace/submarine grade wiring harnesses, and I've done a fair amount of soldering in my life as well. For us we weighed the material cost of like $5 and the fact that we don't put a dollar value on our time since we think stuff like that is fun, against the cost of someone else doing it and it didn't balance out for us. Not to say it doesn't balance out for you, but if you are confident in your soldering skills, there isn't really much to it

For me it's getting the seals open and then re-doing them that worries me.

I have also done my share of soldering on paintball marker electronics, breech eye sets specifically. My only concern is the same that @guruboy has been voicing. I have the DiveRite MR11 Slim canister light that I just recently had the LED upgrade done to. I did not think to get the cord lengthened during the process because I was diving back mount doubles. I have yet to decide if I am actually going to do it, I was simply wanting to flesh out some of the logistics of doing it. Cost of parts and availability..
