poseidon uses CAN, but it might be their own protocol.
I like the idea of their new solid state O2 sensor pod though.
divecan is Shearwaters implementation and is trademarked, not a generic canbus. Poseidon, APD, and DiveSoft are using digital versions of rebreather electronics, but I'm not sure which are on an actual canbus vs. other digital architecture.
The CPOD is universal and can go on any rebreather. The cost to upgrade the Se7en is going to be pretyt significant, but is still at least 6 months away if I had to guess. The Se7en is a good ccr, but if you're going to have to spend probably $3k-$4k to upgrade it to the optical sensors, then you're going to be in for quite a bit of money.
The Prism is good to go as is, and the biggest downfall of the Se7en right now is the lack of ability to change setpoints at depth. They love to lock you out for no real apparent reason. Since the prism is running on the DiveCAN it will just tell you you are being a moron and shouldn't dive, but it won't actually stop the unit from functioning, the Se7en's computers can and absolutely will.
The Se7en also uses a cartridge instead of a packable scrubber which is annoying and expensive.
I love Poseidon, and don't like Hollis, that's no secret, but in this case, it's not even a discussion point in my eyes.
