Two sad, real stories of something that made me question about human evolution...
(Interesting enough, these two anecdotes involve nitrox understanding)
Story number one: last weekend on the boat there was this guy wondering about the difference between air and nitrox. It turned out that he didn't know that air has actually "only" 21% of O2 (while nitrox higher concentration). The scary part is that this guy have been diving using a Galileo with the oxygen at 100% instead of 21%.
I don't even how was possible for him to follow his computer... I've never used a Galileo, but I'm pretty sure that if you set O2 at 100%, and you go deeper than 6 meters, the computer will scream like a moth3r****er...
Story number two: yesterday on a different boat the dive master in training (repeat it slowly, a dive master in training) said: 'If you are on nitrox, you can stay down longer because you use less air."
He actually said it twice, in two different occasions...
This dude actually beliefs that if you use nitrox, you can stay underwater longer because the air in your tank lasts longer...
These stories are funny, but they are also very dangerous...
Anyone?
