Actually, there are TWO problems with the 3/8 3-inch extension. (1) the shaft of the extension may be too large, and (2) the diagonal of the 3/4 square male fitting on the extension is also too large to go through the 1/2 hole for the yoke knob! I took one of my skinny extensions and after a few minutes on a bench grinder took off the corners on the 3/4 square fitting and now it goes through the hole.

I had thought about doing that before the class (.44" or less is what's needed) but it just seemed like a lot of headache for $9, so I bought the one from Scuba Tools. It also didn't have a bearing at the top so it was easier to pull (fall?) out of the socket.

Do you know if that one is tapered as well? The site says tapered, but doesn't say anything about accommodating 4mm orifices.

Either way, the tool from Scuba Tools looked way easier to use that the DGX. The 3 of us that had DGX were a little confused because ours didn't work as seamless as what Chris had.

Ok, so I went ahead and bought a heated ultrasonic cleaner last night. Its probably a little big, but it comes with a valve on the side and I can place in the basement next to the sink.

Well, U/S cleaner came yesterday, and what do you know....no drain. Seems all 3L sold don't have drains (at least the cheaper ones).....even though some have pictures of drains.

My first impression is it's pretty small, smaller then I thought it would be. The size is ok, but the basket in a 3L can probably do one or 2 regs at a time, could do 2, but I think the idea is to have a little space between parts. Undecided if I'll keep the 3L, I placed a bid on a 6L for only a few dollars more (WITH a drain).

See, I had this all planned out, where it was going, how to run the drain to the sink.....now I'm stuck with this idea in my head, lol. Would be nice to be able to do a few regs at the same time, or put larger items in the basket.

The 3L would be easy enough to dump out. I'll get some pictures with my assembled reg sitting in the unit after work so anyone who's interested can see.

****Question. For you all that rebuild regs, do you stagger rebuild times or do them at the same time if using doubles? I would think doing at the same time would be easier, but if your using on a set of doubles it might be safer to stagger a few months just in case you did anything wrong, installed wrong parts, etc. Thoughts? I have heard quite a few times that regs usually are most prone to freeflow right after a rebuild as it seats.

So here's the U/S cleaner. 2nd stage thrown in just for size comparison. The plastic / rubber bits wouldn't actually go in the cleaner. With everything torn apart you could get one set comfortably in there, I don't see 2 fitting at all.

I don't know what other people do, but I have a similar 3L ultrasonic, and I clean the parts for two first stages at the same time, re-assemble the first stages, and then clean the parts for the second stages at the same time, re-assemble, etc.

I thought no plastic in the US, just the metal parts needing cleaning.
