Fighting the disease as we type.
The storage room has been filled up to the ceiling and our sauna has become an another storage space, so I had to start selling stuff that I don't actually use. Selling tanks and such aren't so bad but somehow it's hard to let regulator sets go :D

I bought a lot of gear when I got certified. There were just too many good deals on used stuff listed here. I have about 4 sets of everything. My hoarding problem recently got cut in half when my daughter got certified. Now half is mine and half is hers.

If my wife ever takes the plunge I will have no gear hoarding issue. One set for all with one spare set.

If that's how things worked out then they can't accuse you of hoarding, you were prepping!

Well, I have a dedicated closet for my gear and frankly, I don't know how, nor why, but each year, there's something new arriving...

Well, I have a dedicated closet for my gear

Closet..... You need sheds, spare bedrooms, garage space, gear all over the place [some hidden], a closet is a start down this obsession.
I sold a heap of gear just this month and it has not made a dint, no space gained, and spent the money from my sales [on guess what?].
I have been good this week, I have only bought 1 new cylinder [12.2 L Steel] new boots, gloves, 1 oh so good, love it, Scubapro Synergy mask, new backup light , new webbing for my wing, and the weeks not over.

Edit: Forgot The Scubapro Hybrid Pocket Shorts, new snap bolts, and a new rubber weight belt for free diving.

!

You can donate used gear to Diveheart.
I thought they mostly just wanted old wetsuit neoprene for their recycling program. Do they take other stuff too?

There is nothing wrong with this! Or so I say.

So say we all!

I question the thread's title. How bad? Nah, we are VERY GOOD hoarders of dive gear.

Some of us went from "I can't wait to get my own this or that" to "Why do I keep storing these many of each" It happened before I could stop it.
