Active Divers over the age of 50

I am 65 years old, been diving for 34 years, current tally 4,599 dives, still do well over 100 dives a year, most of which are local to Sydney. Just came back from a local trip and back here where I did 9 shore dives over 9 days.

In our dive club, unfortunately the average age of the active divers would be about my age, just not the younger ones coming through like I did 25 years ago.

I can think of at least 10 women over 50, 8 of them are over 60 who dive regulary..

My wife is 53 and dives. She's not a SB member.

Yeah, we’re old, but that means we were tough (or lucky) enough to live this long. And don’t mess with us… the older we get, the less threatening ”Life in Prison” seems to be.

Just saw this thread, though I saw the Poll thread and added my response there.

I started diving in 1998 but had neither the time nor the money for much. It wasn't until I was in my 50s that I had time and money to really pursue dive travel and even cave diving. I'm still working on earning the full cave diver certification. Now pushing 60, I wonder how many years I'll be in good enough physical shape to actually cave dive.

54 here, freshly reached, diving mostly here and there in the Mediterranean sea. I just started attending tech 50 and 60 class right this year, I'm diving with bottles since 2018 but into and under the water since ever
