third world issues... :poke:

We are in a "special" world of our own. What I don't understand is that blocking IP's from certain countries is of no value since people can use a VPN to bypass the block very easily. Also, "bad" people on the internet mask their own IP's when they are trying to commit any crimes online.

I like the food choices on curaçao but have yet to find Pizza worth the trouble, stuff to see

First bag each way is like $30 or $40 each way.

Oh, that's not too bad. Thank you!!!!

I'd take you in a checked in bag, no problem :)

We're mostly interested in boat dives, which appear to be more common than Bonaire.

Not if you're in Westpunt: most sites are nice sandy beaches you can walk on barefoot, unlike Bonaire's. The reef tends to be farther so the swimout is longer, and there are a couple of places that are too far to swim for most of us lazy vacationers.

If you are going for a week, you’ll have a great time on either island. We have dived on each several times in the last few years. CUR is a bit more developed, with a decent sized city. We stay at Lions Dive which has a great shore dive. We also hire the “Dive Bus” to take us to other shore dives. Taxis into the city. On BON we have stayed several places and recommend Buddy Dive or Harbor Village for an upscale experience. We do some boat dives but rent a pickup and shore dive frequently. There are some epic shore dives from 1000 steps in the north to the Salt Pier in the south. The city is pretty minimal but there are several really good restaurants in and around town. When we are in CUR we tend to spend most time around the hotel area and when on BON we are in the truck constantly.

Shore entries on Curacao are much easier in my opinion. Shallow sloping sandy beaches at Curacao vs pocked ironstone at Bonaire. I was far more concerned with breaking an ankle or leg in one week of diving at Bonaire than a month of diving Curacao with its no sweat, easy shore entries/exits.

Salt Pier in the south.

Salt pier was my most disappointing dive for my one visit to Bonaire. I found the amount of tires and trash to be unattractive. I felt Karparta was the best dive. Yellow Slave would have been better, if it wasn't for the long swim to/from the reef.

Most points have been covered. There's plenty of boat diving on bonaire now a days. The reef is healthier, but the island itself is still quiet so if you're looking for things to do outside of dive probably Curacao. It's also inexpensive to fly between the two depending on how long your trip is. My last trip I did 10 days split and got to enjoy both islands.
