Anchor Rode Marking

Knowing how much anchor rode you have on deck is important in setting your anchor as well as for letting your divers know their distance from the boat.

I mark my rode with the rubberized Star Brite liquid whipping dip. Using green (6 inch) and red (12 inch) bands every 25ft it provides a system to know how much you're feeding out. Starting at 75ft (3 small green bands) and marking every 25ft, I use a longer red band to mark 100ft. It's easy to pick up the system; 125ft=1 Red/1 Green, 175ft=1 Red/3 Green, 200ft=2 Red markings).
Hint: Paint won't hold up to salt water or the chafe from your windlass. The StarBrite Dip It stuff does very well (mine's been on for 3 years)
