Kakaban Jellyfish.....

This ...Phylum Cnidaria (Coelenterata) Class. Scyphozoa. Order. Rhizostomae. Family. Mastigiidae ... Mastigias. Species. papua

Kakaban island is part of the Derawan Islands, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The island has an area of 774,2 ha and this island is quite steep with limestone cliffs covered with dense jungle right down to the water's edge. In local, Kakaban means "hug" it meaning the island hugging the lake from the sea water.
This place is similar to jellyfish-lake in Palau, Micronesia.
The most distinctive feature is the huge brackish water lake in the middle which is well worth diving, because of the millions of non-stinging jelly fish living in the lake. There aren't many beaches around the island since it is surrounded by deep ocean. The wall drops to 180 m and currents can be strong with upwelling, downcurrent and reversing directions.

it was taken from my dive @ Derawan, east Borneo....I used 105mm Nikon macro lens...
