I just recently - yesterday - had 2 posts - out of ~50 that were removed from a thread that can no longer be posted to. I didn’t really think about it until I saw this thread. The thread was about the Cayman Island quarantine breach case. Now I’m pretty sure that I don’t post things that are offensive so assume my reply was in a block of off topic posts.

My first 2 posts to the thread are still there to read. I only remember one that I wrote that was deleted though:

Another member who had been posting in the thread directed a post to me about what I had written about a report on I saw on TV. In short, their post was to the effect of, “I didn’t say it (the report) was controversial, you did.” My post that followed was, “I didn’t say it, the doggone reporter did!

Man did that make me mad - not really - could care less.

Looks like one half of SB hates the other half?

We never divulge that information. Most often, posts are deleted because they are off-topic, like politics in any forum other than The Pub. There are some threads that skirt the line of being germane to diving in certain locations, and we try to be less stringent about them, but once political accusations fly, they are gone. It's not just politics though and some posts in this thread have been deleted because they've been off-topic, hurtful, and even insulting. No, I am not familiar with the particular post that was deleted, I'm just spitballing. While I do far more moderating than Wookie, I can't keep up with it all, especially recently.

My curiosity was not for the details of why some posts were deleted, but rather the reasons for leaving, as they seemed to be here for a while. As in what about the environment, taken as a whole, caused them to leave. Which I now gather may have been triggered or reinforced by part of that Cayman Island quarantine breach thread. Presumably, the mods and staff know more about the context and can adapt any lessons learned.

I hope others are reading this thread. The tone of your comments is quite astounding.
Lol...and that's why we love the wookster!!
