Finally got to dive the Spiegel! VIDEO

Did you hear anything regarding the diving death on Thursday? Our Capt. said a diver with Rainbow Reef boat surfaced unresponsive after his ascent from the Spiegel, but didn't have any more info. I found a brief mention of the incident in a Keys paper, but nothing more :depressed:

Finally got to dive the Spiegel! VIDEO

What an impressive artificially reef! Got to dive her on Friday with Capt. John of HMS Minnow (AWESOME!), and while the visibility wasn't great it was still a spectacular set of dives. I know the video's a little long, but the marine biologist-story teller in me has a hard time compressing...

    Personal Boat Diving

Done both (attended vs non) since diving off my own boat for 15+ years. Common sense goes along way in these matters... A few years back, me and my partner decided to leave the families behind and enjoy a relaxing dive with just ourselves on my proudly-new-to-me 32' Whaler. My bud's a working...

The "Dema Trader" artificial reef/wreck dive off Miami

Working through my bucket list of diving all of the Miami artificial wreck sites :D. Still learning to shoot with the GoPro, and this dive was made even a bit more tricky video-wise due to the current. Nonetheless a cool dive! She was sunk in 2003, and rests in ~82' w/~30' of relief and nice...

A different kind of snorkel (VIDEO)

For those of you that have never explored the mangroves and seagrass fringes, or if you always fly past them on your way out to the reefs, I can't recommend them enough. They're always a calm and serene snorkel away from ocean swells and currents, and they house an amazing amount and variety of...

    1st time S. Grove dive - recommendations??

Hey folks, me and my buddy are finally going to make a run down in my boat to the Grove in the coming weeks. We're going to shoot for a good weather pattern and take a day off work to dive during a weekday and *hopefully* avoid some of the crowds and charter boats. We are non-tech (Cert...

Who dives with their 5D Mk II?

Just starting to actually. My setup is a 5dII in an Ikelite housing using a 17-40mm f/4 lens and 8" dome, with two Nikonos SB102 strobes on dual 6"x9" arms. I'm coming from a considerably more compact Nikonos setup, so this big bulky thing is a bit unwieldy and I'm still getting used to...

    Nikonos Strobe w/Ikelite Tray?

Thanks folks. No worries Brett, I appreciate the response. I've gone ahead and ordered the parts, feeling pretty confident that I can adapt the connectors to the strobe if it does not work out of the box. I just have two perfect condition 102's that are great powerful manual strobes that I'd...

    Nikonos Strobe w/Ikelite Tray?

Hey there, Is it possible to use a Nikonos SB-102 Strobe(s) with the ikelite tray/arm system? I can't seem to determine from viewing the various ikelite arm sections if I can adapt the SB102 head onto the ikelite system. There is a reference to a Nikonos SB103/105 ball adapter (#9577.45)...

Heinrichs-Weikamp Optical Digital Adapter for Nikonos Sync Cords

Hey folks, thought I'd post this here before trying on eBay :D I bought this device (it's only the round plexiglass part in the pic-not the cable) to use with my Canon A590 P&S and my Nikonos SB-102 flash, and it worked great. I used it underwater one time, and have since upgraded my whole...

    Diopter w/EF 17-40?

Hello there :) I'm completing the build of my UW setup, and have a brief question. I have a Canon 5DII with a 17-40mm lens in your housing behind the 8" dome and 5510.24 port. I notice in your "ports" page you don't say anything about the use of a diopter with this particular setup, yet...
