Cory, You can not switch from video to photo mode when the camera is in the housing, however you can pull still's from video if you have some basic good editing software.

Being the manufacturer of the H2OV housing for the ContourHD, I may be a little biased but I think the ContourHD is a far superior camera. It is more stream line, has a 130 degree wide lens which can rotate 180 degrees for leveling at any mounting angle, it also has 2 alignment...
We are beginning to get some awesome feedback and video results from the ContourHD camcorder and the H2OV housing. The video quality in both blue water and green water diving is excellent for this compact system, with or without lights.
