For Sale Aqua Lung Quantum Stretch 3mm full wetsuit, men's XL

I have an Aqua Lung 3mm Quantum Stretch wetsuit for sale. Size is men's XL, full length (legs and sleeves), blue and black, rear zipper. The suit is in nearly-new condition, it was worn a few times in freshwater, and a few times in salt water, over the course of a few months. I stopped wearing...

SDI Solo instructor in the Keys

Good point, I was thinking about editing my OP to address that. All my certs so far have been with PADI. I've just sort of gathered the impression from various threads here that the "Solo" cert title garners more respect than the "Self-Reliant" cert title, and that that respect = better access...

SDI Solo instructor in the Keys

I'm in the very early planning stages of a dive trip to the Florida Keys in about a month and a half, and it's looking like I'll be traveling without a group from the local shop for the first time. I've been wanting to take the solo course for a while now, I meet all the prerequisites and I...

Colorado to Marathon ... 2 weeks with our boat.

I'm definitely no expert on boating in and around the Keys, but I have rented 20-24' boats each time I've been down to Islamorada (5 times now I think?) The waters in some areas can definitely be tricky to navigate-- there are many, many shallow areas where you'll run aground, and the channels...

How do you tell you are getting older?

I have ibuprofen at my desk at home, next to my bed, in my car, and in my toolbox at work. I'm 28. Every time I buy a bottle of pills, that's how I know.

Can you sink by blowing up your BC below 40m?

I think someone was having some fun with you. Nothing at 40m changes how bouyancy works. Now, some things do get weird the deeper you go, but the concepts of buoyancy and BC function stay the same. Never heard the term "negative bubbles" in my life. Can you elaborate on how he explained it...

    Guess I missed a LOT...

Hate to tell you, but she passed away nearly two years ago while diving. Here's the thread: TSandM -- Lynne Flaherty Like you, I started diving and joined Scubaboard in 2012. Didn't really come on the forum much for the past two or three years, although I was still diving. I just started...

Advice on repairing Mako air compressor

Yeah, the bearing just falling off is not something I would ever think would happen. Especially to a unit with less than 500 hours since reconditioning. Anyway, today I'm going to attempt to prime the pump, close the pressure regulator a bit, and see what happens. I'll report back. Thanks!

Prefer MIA or FLL to go to Key Largo?

You'll be in Terminal 3, grab your bags there and then a ride on the shuttle bus to Terminal 1, to which the rental car center is attached. Each company has their check-in counters in the same building, then the attendants take you out to the garage to your car. I usually fly Southwest which...

    Score. What airline?

Prefer MIA or FLL to go to Key Largo?

I second diversteve. I've flown into FLL and driven to Islamorada five times now, and I'll keep flying into FLL. Easy to get to the rental car center, and from there straight onto 595 W. Follow Florida's Turnpike and Ronald Reagan Turnpike and you'll steer well clear of all the Miami nonsense...

Advice on repairing Mako air compressor

I do have the universal manual, thankfully, but I'm not seeing anything in there about initial priming of the pump. I do see a procedure for flushing the oil pressure regulator valve (apparently done when the oil pressure fluctuates too much), but my current issue is no oil flow from the pump at...

Advice on repairing Mako air compressor

Okay, so, I'm trying to help out my instructor/LDS owner with his compressor, and I could probably use a few words of advice. I'd like to thank in advance anyone who reads through all this. The unit is a Mako, model number 5406BS-C. Appears to be a Mako 5406E block. It was reconditioned...

    Fresh open-water diver

Hello again. Just wanted to come back to my post here and add an update. Since my OW certification weekend, I managed to make two more trips (three dive days total) up to the quarry. Spent one day at the quarry at the end of October and completed my drysuit and AOW certifications with a drysuit...
