How much better is the strobe than the video light for photos

I have the Sea Dragon Flash and 2500 Video Light. I use primarily the flash for my still photos; only use the video light for dark crevices and on night dives (actually use it as my primary dive light). For video, I have a GoPro with red filter. I have found that the red filter gives me better...

    Processed RAW vs JPG examples?

Personally, I think the improved quality of editing a RAW photo is so worth the effort. I have found the more I practice editing, the easier it seems, so not really much work for a far better picture to show off. Unedited JPEG from DC2000: Edited RAW file:

    Morehead trip questions

I love diving with Olympus! Although, they frequent some dive sites more than others, I feel like they do what they can to get you an enjoyable dive with the best possible conditions. I remember one trip to the Indra, we were the first there because Capt made the call early based on reports...

    Curacao in April

Thanks for the additional info. I have checked with my credit card company, and they do not charge a fee for using my card for foreign currency transactions.

    Curacao in April

Thanks! I agree it will be a drag, but my mother is so afraid I am going to be kidnapped or something she will not be able to sleep unless she hears from me. I think I will be able to use FaceTime or send a iMessage for free as long as I can connect to wi-fi. ---------- Post added January...

    Curacao in April

I am going to Curacao in April and am looking for advice and suggestions for traveling. I will be meeting up with a dive group so the diving will be planned by the group leaders, but this will be my first time travelling outside of the US as well as first time flying with my gear. I will be...

Rule of Thirds & Shallow Rec diving

This thread has also made me think more about my gas planning. My husband and I learning 1/3 out, 1/3 back, leaving 1000 PSI to ascend and do our safety stop (we usually rent Al 80). I have never really thought how much actual air that leaves is with and if it's enough to get both of us to the...

I think WetSuits are Safer and Better than Dry suits for the vast majority of divers

This thread got my attention because I have been considering learning dry suit in order to extend my season. The main reason I am interested in diving dry is staying warmer during surface intervals. In the water, I am comfortable in my full 3 mm down to about 72 degrees and can tolerate down to...

    Rescue Certification Completed!

I am planning on logging as much bottom time as possible. Although, now that it's getting chilly here in NC, I am thinking more and more about a dry suit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Florida Keys Q1 - Best Restaurants in KL & Islamorada

My husband and I love Alabama Jacks. Technically, it's in Homestead but it's just across the toll bridge connecting Homestead to Key Largo (Card Sound Rd). They have the BEST conch fritters! They have chunks of meat instead of being minced. It doesn't look like much from the outside but those...

    First Aid/CPR Poll

I have to have ACLS for work (and renew every tow years), I would probably have a harder time maintaining if wasn't for work.

    Thoughts on Bahamas Shark diving

If you want to do a shark dive and see them in their natural state of being without chumming or feeding, come to North Carolina. There are sand tigers that live here year round and there are certain wrecks you can go to in which you are almost guaranteed to see them. The population is even...

    Another First for Me!

I will not get on a boat without a motion-sickness patch. I put it one on at least 12 hours ahead of time so it's in my system really well. I got sea sick on a deep sea fishing trip off the NC coast and never want to experience that ever again. So far, not had any issues on my dive trips with a...

    Rescue Certification Completed!

Just because it's serious subject matter doesn't mean you can't have fun and enjoy learning how to handle it. As a matter of fact, I think it's important to make training for emergency situations fun because it is so serious.

    Rescue Certification Completed!

Thanks everyone! The course has definitely raised my confidence level. Not really sure what's next for me. My husband is interested in continuing on to Dive Master. I would rather save my money for more dive trips. ---------- Post added September 10th, 2013 at 07:25 PM ---------- I have...

    Rescue Certification Completed!

I completed my Rescue certification this past weekend. It was a great experience! I learned so much, had a lot of fun and surpassed my 50 dive mark in the process.
