Service Pressure on Thermo Pro Valve

I have a Thermos pro-valve SP12. Stamped into the valve is 230 bar. However, there is a black sticker that says 2400psi service pressure. What is this service pressure? Does this mean it cannot be used on a 3000psi Aluminum 80? The website is vague. It says pro-valves are good to 3442. It...

Leaving pony rigged between dive outings

Thanks all. Based on the varied advice, I think I'll leave it rigged. This means regs on, hoses tucked in bungies and always just ready to clip on. It's only pressured up and then valve off during the dive. When it sits its not pressured. In summer, I dive fresh all summer anyways. When I...

Leaving pony rigged between dive outings

Does anyone leave their pony rigged between dive days or do all of you unrig. I'm wondering if it causes reg or o-ring issues.

993, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT take a pic of your C-Card and leave it on your phone. Because then you'll lose your phone.

Are DUI drysuits really worth the extra?

Guess what. Your dimensions are very close to mine. Seriously I am short, stocky and have about 2 inches on the chest on you. Otherwise the same. I went with the DUI TLSSE mens large short (MLS. off the shelf perfect fit. This runs about $1500 and they threw in the underwear. DUI can...

    Drysuit Size Clarification

OK. So this may seem like a dumb question and I might be able to think it through but I have cold water brain freeze at the moment and when I hear you answers I’ll probably go ..Duh! to myself. I have just decided to go dry and have about 12 no issue dives in my drysuit. Found it quite easy...

Installing and using a Pee valve in a semi-dry wetsuit? Anyone have any feedback?

I dive a well fitting semi dry and I don't use a p-valve but to be semi-dry it fits very snug. The hose will probable flatten and you get the blow blowback. However, if I did do a p-valve in the semi, why would I use the valve? A p-valve is about $200. Go to your health gadget store and get...

Drysuit transitioning blues - a lesson in humility

Since gaiters are expensive and many rec divers tend to stop using them after a while, if you are diving trilam I'd recommend the disposal gaiters that you throw away after a a few dives. You can buy them in the same color as any drysuit so it's not so noticeable. What's their name again...

    Water in BCD

If you have water in your BC, and try and force it out a dump valve by presurring up your BC, You will go into uncontrolled ascent? it would essentially require a BC filled with air. Unless yoou are doing it at the surface in which case, you ddn't have a problem to begin with.

    BCD Pockets

Good...so it's not just me. No more critical stuff in my BCD pockets. I have a weight integrated which would make the pockets even more useless but have (for the most part) given up on using the weight integrated components, But that's for a different topic. I think that this thread...

    BCD Pockets

Does anyone actually find BCD pockets practical? I keep my spare mask in my right pocket and spare flashlight in my left. Since most of my dives are dark and cold, I definitely need a flashlight and I am in 14mm on core with 7mm gloves. You people that dive this know about mobility restriction...

    PADI vs SEI AOW Curriculum

Once again, I am not knocking AOW but be aware that these are not the specialty courses, just intros. Other agencies allow you to go from OW to the true specialties. Some specialties require a requisite number of dives. And the specialties that you desire may be cheaper (each) than AOW and...

    PADI vs SEI AOW Curriculum

I believe any training you can get is good but I often think of it in terms of "cost benefit". I may be straying from a direct answer to the original question. AOW has some benefit as it is education. However, I often wonder why people jump right into after their 4 open water divers. Is ti...

Does water in a wetsuit help or hurt. A myth to be BUSTED or CONFIRMED

I think experiment is in order. 1. Wetsuit dive to about 30 feet in cold water for 45-60 min. 2. Same wetsut, same dive, but covered with a drysut shell (no isulative value) so that the wetsuit stays dry. (make it a day apart to recover body heat) 30 feet should provide enough painless...

Does water in a wetsuit help or hurt. A myth to be BUSTED or CONFIRMED

Let's trust the BSAC on this. Al of their water is cold and we all know that anything said with that fine British accent always carries a fair weight of credibility so here's two credible BSAC sources. Essential items you will use in scuba diving. Wetsuit or drysuit Depending on where you dive...

    What does an instructor offer?

I have a similar story. My first was in 1987 in Mismaloya(Los Arcos) Mexico. I always wanted to try scuba and new absolutely nothing about it. A shack on the beach rented me fins, mask, a harness for the tank and regulator. We went to the Los Arcos rock on a boat and over I went...solo...
