New to area and need dry suit repairs

Greetings all, I just relocated to Seattle from Michigan and looking to get back into cold water diving. I need to get my dry suit checked out and some seals replaced before doing some refresher training. What are the good LDS's for gear repairs and maintanance? Thanks

    First time Grand Cayman recommendations.

Thanks! I've sent out some inquiring emails to several operations. Have to see what works best with rates and schedules. Looks like Red Sail has a shop in our hotel, so that might be a big factor. Thanks for all the insight. I'll be sure to post a report when it's all said and done. Sent...

    First time Grand Cayman recommendations.

My GF and I are traveling to Grand Cayman 5/15-22. Staying at the Marriott on SMB. Planning on doing two dives most days. Any recommendations for dive ops or must see dive spots? Are the Kittywake and Stingray City worth it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Should I incorporate as an assistant instructor or instructor?

I am just starting along the professional diving tract and plan to become an instructor in the next year or two. There have been a few discussions about instructor liability on the forums. I also know a couple instructors who have incorporated LLCs for tax purposes and liability reasons. This...

Travel Carry on with BP/W Vs. Aeris Jetpack as a Carry on?

I can typically travel with my Oxycheq BP/W, 5 mm full wetsuit, boots, DSMB, finger spool compass, light and a couple pairs of shorts, shirts and underwear in my carry on (LL Bean carry on roller duffle). I put my regs, masks, toiletries, kindle and other misc small sundries in a backpack to...

    Last min dive trip recommendation?

Life interfered yet again. My daughter decided to come home from college for her birthday and my boys want me to go to their first gymnastics meet of the year. So it looks like a staycation for me. Thanks for all the recommendations however and I have some excellent ideas for my next dive trip...

    Last min dive trip recommendation?

I unexpectedly have a week off, Jan 10-17, (use it or lose it policy). I'm looking for ideas for a last minute and relatively inexpensive solo dive trip. I'm AOW with 100 or so dives and based near Detroit Mi. Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Science of Diving

Passed the test!!!! The book left a fair amount of stuff out of the physics section that showed up in the test. You have to rely on your instructor to fill in these gaps. The gaps weren't exactly glaring but we're extrapolations of idea in the book that had minor details that could mess up your...

    Science of Diving

Thanks. Did a Google search and not too much out there. I did talk to my instructor and I'm probably focusing too much on the math part of the exam. At least in pretty comfortable with all the formulas though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Science of Diving

Hey all, I'm currently taking the SSI science of diving training course. I'm not too good at inventing my own word problems and wanted more practice for the math portion of the exam. Is the a resource for more practice problems and or realistic questions for me to practice with? Thanks Sent...

    Frozen Zoop

Wish I had found this thread sooner. My zoop had the same issue but initially recovered after a long soak only to fail again about 20 dives later. Called repair dive shop and told nothing I could do. So I pitched it since it kept alarming and wouldn't shut off. It was a bit over 4 years old and...

    PADI v SSI Instructor

I started as an SSI diver and I'm now doing a PADI rescue course. I'm planning to keep going at least to the Dive Master -Dive Con level and possibly instructor. What is the real difference between a PADI v SSI Instructor and why chose one over the other? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What's your favorite Great Lakes wreck dive operation?

I just got my dry suit working for me and I'm looking for some good dive in the Great Lakes for this summer. I tried to find something last minute this holiday weekend but no luck. What are people's favorite Great Lakes wreck dive site and operators within rec dive limits? I have my AOL and...

    Suunto Cobra

I had a similar failure on my Suunto Zoop. The local dive shop actually stopped carrying the Suuntos because they were having so many depth sensor failures. This was the first I've heard about this being a wide spread problem. Has anyone else been seeing this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

UTD Signature series vs the Si Tech glove lock system

New UTDs worked great! It took multiple try's to get them installed correctly. Turns out I wasn't putting the right O rings in the right slots. So far, they fit well, provide decent dexterity, stay dry and go on and off pretty easily. The rings are not overly large and I hardly notice them in...

    My zoop died. What next?

Oddly enough, I never looked into the warrantee. The repair shop I talked too didn't think the computer was salvageable. They thought the pressure sensor was shot. I'll have to think a bit more next time it happens. Maybe I should expect more than a few years and 100 dives out of my next...

    My zoop died. What next?

My suunto zoop after 100+ dives lost it's mind and I had to send it on to a better place. I have a Suunto Cobra but I find that I really miss my wrist mount. I would like to step up from the zoop and the Viper is a possibility. I wanted to consider other options though. My concern is if I get a...
