Cave diver drowns - Jackson Blue Springs, Florida

I usually stay off social media but, I had met the diver and his buddy in the past. I dive in JB a lot, and have also done just about every one of the jumps in the first couple of thousand feet. Some are quite nasty, silty and tight. I have seen video from two close friends both smaller than I...

Level of fitness/strength needed for rescue course

I've done two stress and rescue courses. Our shop offers a 2 day SSI course and a month long course geared towards Dive professionals, taught by an exceptional instructor. I learned how to protect myself in the regular SSI class, I learned how to deal with any situation in my month long class...

    Cobalt 2 Issues..... Again

Ron, I am returning it to my LDS, tomorrow and they are sending it in. It finally ended the dive after 640+minutes. It was strange because after the first dive of the day it showed I needed to go back down for 22 seconds. I did not blow off a safety stop and only chased behind students for a max...

    Disappointed

I'm sure by now, the owner of this shop has read this thread, read my snail mail, had a conversation with PADI (since he is a 5 star PADI dive shop, and I complained to them, like they care) and in general does no give a rats Ass about his customers has decided that some guy that got bad air...

    Cobalt 2 shutting off

I was playing in the pool this afternoon practicing for an upcoming advanced stress and rescue class. One of the things they do in the class is take our gear to the bottom of the pool, turn off the air and have us go down to get it. One of my instructors sunk the gear and turned the air off. I...

    Disappointed

I wish we had heard that prior to getting fills there. Yes it sits on a hill and is close to the dam, if that shop has a reputation for bad fills they are just plain negligent.

    Disappointed

I would think the fact that his shop filled at least 5 cylinders, between 3 divers with bad air that would be enough to elicit a response. Even a phone call saying "I got your letter and unfortunately we can't do anything at this point" would have been better than just ignoring it completely...

    Disappointed

Yes all three of us were really tired, I had some cramps at the end of the dive. All three of us dive regularly and are in good shape I rarely ever get cramps while diving. Both of my tanks were emptied at my local dive shop cleaned and inspected. Diving was good. We had a good trip...

Why did I get nauseated? Oil and water in my tank.

I recently had a similar scenario, however did not get sick. Had two cylinders refilled after my mornings dives. One of which was a brand new as in second time it was filled cylinder. We had to wait a significant amount of time for the fills as the shop was busy. I DID smell my cylinder prior...

Night Diver Specality - Sandals - Certification cards????

Sandals Whitehouse is a nice resort, but you will pay extra for more than two dives a day. Also they never even asked to see anything other than my OW card. They did have me do a pool session to demonstrate some skills. The dive guides, and boat captains are some really nice guys. The reef in...

What's your best local dive shop like?

My local dive shop is great, they treat me with respect. Are always helpful, and will bend over backwards to make sure I am happy with my purchases. I recently had a substantial amount of my gear stolen and they made sure that my gear was replaced in time for a trip I had planned. I might pay a...

    Equipment Insurance

All told my loss is around 10K, kind of the perfect storm. Not many other times that I would have all of my gear plus work computer in the vehicle. There was a firearm that was stolen and well. I do have a specific rider for my guns. Thanks for the replies

    Equipment Insurance

Some background.... Friday evening I arrived to a local city to do a little diving at the quarry. I stopped to get supper, and in the middle of supper overheard the wait staff trying to find someone with a truck that matched the description of mine. Well, lucky me the drivers side window had...
