I cringe when I hear that no offboard bailout is required. I don't think that's a good thing to advocate. Humans make enough mistakes as it is. To give someone a rebreather with very limited bailout I think is asking for trouble. We shall see though.

In a nut shell, what I did was create a design that I could live with (diameter & length, material) and sent the drawing to Plastic Supply & Fabrication (918.622.8430) and asked them for a quote to fabricate the components. The reason I went this route is because for the small amount of material...
I personally wouldn't use anything like Otterbox or equivelant cases. Although they say, watertight, they are not designed to handle the pressure that a diver may subject it too. I tried an Otterbox, for example, to slightly less than its rated depth and it failed. Killed a nice VHF radio in the...
You could try sweet talkin' Barry at Salvo. Since the SPOT is production made, he might be interested in making a nice cannister for it. The SPOT device is becoming popular with divers and therefore would mean more sales to him. Give it a shot.

That is typically for Normoxic Trimix. One can obtain Hypoxic Trimix training and be good for ~330fsw. Past that, a diver can go through Expedition training and be good to whatever they deem since they are knowledgable enough to plan for just about anything.
Even though I personally had a lot...
I hate to burst your bubble but this was not pushing the limits at all when taking their training and gear into consideration. Most of the rebreathers out there today are quite capable of dives easily down to 600 feet. They were quite clearly trained for those dives as well.
I was just down...

I can understand your dilemna. Have you looked at the N-19? (Haven't read the entire thread) Given the same rider, it edges out a little faster than it's siblings (other SS models) because of the smaller diameter of the tube. Water is able to hit closer towards the axle on the blades. I've done...
It was a nice night for a cave dive in Promise Sink. Promise is hard to get to and probably not dove as frequently. However, the basin is really nice clear water that just invites a diver upon arrival.
The easiest access to Promise is through being a club member of Wakulla County Diving Club...
Just finished up a five day live-aboard trip in the Dry Tortugas, chartered by Oceanic Ventures, on the M/V Spree diving several deep wrecks. The trip was led by Richie Kohler and Mike Barnette who did an outstanding job. Presentations on the wrecks were provided in the evening by Mike and...
