    Thelonghose.com Course

As an example, to my knowledge, the ISE "valve procedure" is designed for a slightly different purpose and involves a different sequence of manipulations compared to e.g. GUE "valve drill".

    Thelonghose.com Course

I have seen Mike's students in the water. Very fine divers. Note that some ISE protocols are quite different from those taught by other DIR agencies.

Can you share what you're using for weight belt systems on heavy undergarments?

Santi BZ400x and Santi Elite. For fresh water and D12, I use a 2,7 kg steel backplate and 3 kg V-weight (I am a big fan of rail-based modular systems like the one below). For salt water, I require 7 kg, and tend to carry everything on the rail as well. It might be a marginally safer solution to...

When should I stop referring to myself as a beginner

That would be when you first notice a mistake you made due to complacency rather than ignorance or lack of skill.

    Cave fatality in Russia

My understanding that it was an old communications cable, and that this sort of cables used to be frequently used as guideline in Russia in 1950-90s.

    New divers and buying equipment

No, you don't need to be certified in "tech gear" to use it within your other certification limits. It helps to have someone mentor you though in the beginning.

    New divers and buying equipment

Yeah, there's no voodoo in tech gear, it's just gear. Not more or less complicated, just a bit different. Sidemount I'll leave for others to comment on as I have no experience with it (see zero point in it in OW and not that advanced yet in caves). But if you want to try the tech backmount...

    Dry Suits

I had a big drop in consumption around the dive #100. Went from 21-24 lpm (at 1 ATA) to around 16-17 lpm. Still there at dive #200.

    Dry Suits

Much as I like other Apeks products, there are literally over ten other drysuit brands that I would consider before Apeks. The Fusion KVR1 is a niche product, and a very narrow niche too.

Difference between Intro to Tec and Fundamentals

I have taken both two years ago, one immediately after the other. ITT requires three dives, and I spent about 2,5 hrs in the water, both pool and sea. GUE/F requires six dives, fair enough, but I spent 32 hours in the water, both pool and sea. I can't even say for sure how many dives we did...

    Tricks to combat fogging

None of the methods mentioned above work on my favorite masks (Atomic Venom). I burn the bejeezus out of the inner side of the glass with a lighter, trying to stay >1 cm away from the rubber. It can be very easily seen how a thin film of whatever coating they use breaks down with heat. Then I...

    Scobapro digital 330 - issue

Not serviceable. Mine did it a couple of times, and the only thing that helped was to soak it in fresh water overnight. It stayed in dive mode but stopped blinking, worked fine during the next dive, and shut down thereafter.

    Dry Suits

Bare: yes, you are correct, D6 HD Pro is a neoprene suit with back entry. Cost: in my case, the most recently purchased suit was 1800 arbitrary units, plus neck seal upgrade for 200 units and p-valve option for another 200 units. Everything else that I needed (tech pockets, choice of boots...
