    Who Wants Better Fins?

I took your advice and spent most of my time at DEMA arranging testing with prominent divers. It is a long list and I have to make a bunch of fins for them so it will be a bit before the results start rolling in. There are 3 pair of fins out right now with a State underwater archaeologist, a...

DEMA 2017: anything new for "basic" divers ?

That is correct. These fins are prototypes and not for sale yet. The budget precludes a booth. I will be looking for photographers, videographers, and instructors, to try the fins. Also will be talking with manufacturers.

MaxAir Swim Fins - Stay Down Longer with Less Effort

If I can arrange some pool time near DEMA after show hours would there be anyone interested in testing fins? If so offer a time or two you would be available.

MaxAir Swim Fins - Stay Down Longer with Less Effort

All I can say is ask a freediving instructor. Here is his answer. Look for me at DEMA. I will be wheeling around a cart with the fins.

MaxAir Swim Fins - Stay Down Longer with Less Effort

Thanks for the plug Chris. Once I get a good supply of fins I will get you a pair again. For those of you who have just tuned in. Shotmaster was someone I met here on the board a couple of years ago. He wanted to tell me, "Your baby is ugly." but changed his tune after trying them and has...

MaxAir Swim Fins - Stay Down Longer with Less Effort

As stated before these solve the fatigue problem. Less energy expended, less stress on the joints, all the ability fight a current if need be, ability to explore off track and return unwinded. All this has been solidly proven (although not accepted) and results in that great sense of well...

    Who Wants Better Fins?

The current fin manufacturers apparently have no interest in scientific data. An earlier version of my fin was tested by a major manufacturer on their kicking machine and they told me it performed better than theirs but that was not sufficient to cause them to throw away their multi-million...

You gotta try them. Will you be at DEMA?

    Who Wants Better Fins?

Interesting you found this. I have it up on my computer right now and have been working with it for the last week. Their testing is straight line and based on O2 consumption as opposed to my test which includes multiple 180 degree turns and measures total AIR consumed. This makes the results...

    Who Wants Better Fins?

Yes. Your testing was several years ago. Thank you for your candid response. I have made substantial improvement in the materials since then and other tech divers have discovered the frog kicking technique which does work. No doubt, really powerful and easy fins can be designed, but as you...

    Who Wants Better Fins?

Of Course. It is in everyone's best interest that no claim go unproven. Here is the link to the testing program. To make it a bit easier this link is to a summary of the data collected. Two items to bear in mind here are the speeds listed are AVERAGE speeds for the entire 327' course. That...

    Who Wants Better Fins?

This has been a concern of mine from day one. So far entanglement has been a fairly minor issue. I do hope to get these out in places such as kelp beds to see how they fare. Most of the entanglement has occurred in the straps. Our production version will be more streamlined with less...

That sounds great. We are building a new version for distribution. We will have to wait until they are in production.

    Who Wants Better Fins?

So far there has never been a failure in the hinges. They will be made of the same material that has been in fins for decades. The prototypes are using a material which is much weaker than the final production version so the final result will be even stronger. No doubt if you took a knife to...

    Who Wants Better Fins?

Absolutely. And that is exactly what is going on. The spinoff is the ablility to go faster since it is using less energy. I am not advocating swimming fast. It is just nice to have the insurance in those rare cases where it is needed.

    Who Wants Better Fins?

Why would I test with parts blocked or locked? Then it would simply be an old fashioned fin. In all the testing that has never happened. What tough to reach places? I have never had any issues with rinsing the fins. Also the final version will be much sleeker and more streamlined.
