    Water resistant smartphones

So far my galaxy s7 has been holding up well to light water exposure. It's been dropped in a creek while fly fishing, sat in my pocket during a wader flood, also while fishing, and has been used in the rain. No detrimental effects as of yet.

    Show us your log!

I like to keep both paper and electronic logs. One of my favorite things about using subsurface is the accompanying app that lets me pull my logs up and look over a dive right on my phone. It's come in handy more than once, even if just for quick reference.

    Wet suits and dry suits

I know a couple instructors that might qualify for that title.

    Wet suits and dry suits

I think it was more the bad viz than the depth that got to her.

    Wet suits and dry suits

Ok maybe rickety was a bit rough, but those newer aluminum platforms look awesome comparatively. I think our plan was to do something similar, but we had one guy lose a pocket and someone else got a little freaky and bolted, so we just went up the buoy line and did the ss there. The bright side...

    Wet suits and dry suits

I'm convinced women's air lasts longer too! I did the deep dive a couple weeks ago. Went down, saw the rickety pallet, lost sight of the rickety pallet as everyone else made it down, and was happy to head up to the safety stop afterwards lol. For all my complaining, I ended up having to go...

    Newest ramblings

Sure thing! Its Scuba Emporium in Orland Park, IL. They've still got a long way to go on the internet front, but some really good people over there.

    Newest ramblings

My lds does the last bit and it has seemed to help them a ton with business. They usually set up 3 dive weekends a month. I'm in their system, so I usually get a call on the 1st with a heads up for that month's planned dive dates (they do this for all of their certified students). One on lake...

    diving fitness?

That sucks. I think they have some YouTube videos and you can request interest? :rofl3: it's really not the best name they could have gone with.

    diving fitness?

If you can find one, try a broga class. Like yoga, but mostly bros and skips the spiritual stuff entirely. For me, it's weight lifting at least 3-4 times a week. I also do 3 mornings of hiit cardio and like to get some bodyweight work in at the local fitness park too.

    Wet suits and dry suits

If funds allowed, I'd be diving dry in anything colder than 60F. Currently I dive an 8/7/6 semi dry, which is comfortable down to 55ish for me. I've worn it as cold as 44F, and it was a shock at first but I settled into it fine for the short time at that temp. On a longer dive, I'd have to go...

    Wet suits and dry suits

The infamous man eating bluegills!!! They get fed hotdogs by some divers over at Haigh, that could present a dangerous situation.

    Ineligible log entries

I was quoted this urban legend before and really have a hard time understanding where it came from. I've also been told that dive ops wouldn't accept a digital log because it could be faked. I've yet to do any diving that requires verification beyond a c card, but when it happens, I'll be...

    Mucus accumulation during ascent

I experienced this on dive number 3 of my ow training dives. I did a quick sniff, which caused it to shoot down my throat, which caused a reflexive cough that made me spit out my reg o_O. Now I just do a partial mask flood (if there isn't standing water in there from my facial hair causing...

    AirBnb for Divers?

I'm not a dive professional, or in the industry at all, so I can't comment on that end. But as a consumer, I'd at least give it a try out. If it is well organized, convienent, and is updated regularly by the shops, I could see it saving some phone calls find find a spot on a boat. One...

Why dive in a quarry? Should you log them

    Yes sir!

Why dive in a quarry? Should you log them

    I did make a bit of a glaring generalization there, didn't I.

Why dive in a quarry? Should you log them

I think that's where some of the confusion lies, the only real difference between quarries and lakes is that a quarry is a man made hole instead of a natural hole. They have the same ecosystems as natural lakes, and most have some much more appealing structure than our usual Midwestern lakes can...
