I think that one of the reasons why divers are quiet about DSC/possible DSC when the diving was within the limits, are that it is much more comforable for everyone if we can keep up the pretend that only happy-go-luck fellows who disregard the rules get bend. This makes us feel much safter -...
Please, be aware that almost anything you find under water will need to be conservated or the artifact will be ruined in days, months or years. So if you don't know preciely what you do - and have the necessary permits (might vary substantial from place to place - even within one country) leave...

What about nacosis? Would they be able to solve ANY problem at that depth? This is Trimix zone IMHO.
So fumbling around for your mask and running out of air at the same time not appealing to me....
If you can't get out of the wetsuit between dives (boat, remote location) bring a cheap rain suit to put on over the wet suit. This cuts the heat loss from evaporation significatly. It is also a good idea for the RIP trip. Add a warm cap and cloves - dry!
You should also be aware that due to...
The liability laws are different here in Europe. However, I think this is yet another case where I'll apply the mirror test. This is where I'll speak up sufficiently loud and clear for me later to be able to look at my self in the mirror. If the guy doesn't take the advise I can't and won't...
I just switsed to doubles as well (2x 10l) as well as BP, harness and 25l wing. It is bulky and heavy on shore but wonderfull to dive with. Last dive was at 30 m with 7 deg C at the bottom. Really nice to have lots of air. And with a properly adjusted harness carring the stuff is not too...
The answer is training, training, training. Once you can do a shore dive and stay submerged until there's only 3 feet water you can do anything. However, you need to be properly weighted. And I found that curling up is the best way to force air out of the boots and legs and move in towards the...
I can see that this accident was not posted here so far. I lifted this excelent English translation from DAR who has it from a rebreather forum - as stated. However, this correspont closely to the reports in Danish and German.
Always a sad thing......
With the death of Fred Evans in the...
Thanks for all the positive replys. Now I just need to take my old regulator set to the DIY shop and find the appropiate metric fitting. I just knew there had to be a way to use all that lovely pressurized air. :-)
Like most of you I have compressed air avialable :05: in my tanks.
However, I would also like to do some work around the house with compressed air tools. And I don't like to spend the money for a compressor when I have these nice tanks with plenty of air sitting around. I even has an old...
When was this hand me down equipment last serviced?
20 dives is not much to be confident in all situations ;)
Having problems getting down is to a large extend a question of technique and experience - not only adding weights. And now you know why!
Thank you for pointing out this interesting storry - I think. However you need to log in to read it! Could you please copy the whole text here. This also ensures that this tread is readable for a long time to come.
Look forward to hearing more about it!
I think you did right.
But what was this guy thinking? Doing deep 30m (maybe) dive(s) with a hangover, dehydrated and very low blood sugar. All of us should know better. I wouldn't even go diving at 2m in that condition.
Most of these hand signs mentioned here are no good when you are cold and wearing three-finger gloves. Just show the gauge! And if you - like me - are useing an air integrated computer show you body(ies) on the surfface where your pressure indicator is located on the display. Furthermore, how...

I do pool swims without mask almost every week. My eyesight is as bad as yours an therefore I weare contacts. Over something like 8 years I only ever lost one lense. Just to be on the safe side I'm using onec only lenses. Mayby an idea also for you?
So don't be afraid of loosing...
Two fixes:
1. Try a conical wrist seal - the bottom part is less than 2 inches across laying flat and it will seal over a 2inch zone on you wrist - dry arms!
2. Seals (bottle top shaped) also comes in different sizes. I just had a S size seal glued on my dry suit instead of the original M...
I've tried on the Bare Trilam since my first dry suit (Ursuit) should be replaced when I have the mony. I'll just tell you that if you have thick calves like me they won't fit. I could barely get the suit on without a undersuit. I tried two or three different models.

You (and everybody else) is certified for the conditions where they learned to dive. Britten (and Denmark) is something else. Low visibility, cold water = thick wet/dry suit = more weight, hood gloves etc. At the very least get some local introduction. It's ussually quite a shock to a...
