    Gear Purchase from European Website

Agreed. My experience with DHL has been very good when it is an Express shipment. I have gotten things in 1-3 days once it reaches the exit point in the country where the package is coming from. That's usually the longest part, if a seller is in a remote part of the origin country.

    Electric vs Gasoline Compressor

Indeed, @iain/hsm . That's a really good idea and saves the expense and maintenance / point of failure(s) for the ACD.

    Electric vs Gasoline Compressor

I would love to explore a rebreather as the solution, but it is too far down the road in timing. I have a few years or more of open circuit still ahead of me.

    Electric vs Gasoline Compressor

LOL Thanks everyone for the great input. So, my takeaways are: Electric compressor for home use, possibly upgrading to a generator and trailer sometime down the line if really needed for remote usage; enough cylinders to dive for a weekend is easier and cheaper; the small high-RPM compressors...

    Electric vs Gasoline Compressor

Thank you for the input everyone. Changing gears a bit, since the consensus seems to be for an electric compressor, would you please let me know your thoughts on a good compressor to look for? Based on the input in this thread, it seems like the Bauer Junior II and the L&W 100 will struggle to...

    Electric vs Gasoline Compressor

Thanks for the advice and for the picture. I suppose I didn't consider "continuous" running to include needing to fill doubles. Given the time needed to fill one HP tank, wouldn't it take about an hour to fill a set of doubles? Does that count as continuous running? If so, then the Juniir...

    Electric vs Gasoline Compressor

Thanks. That is a good idea as well. Certainly one of my thoughts was the possible danger of having an expensive compressor sitting in the back of the vehicle while diving. Plenty of cylinders would certainly obviate the problem and they probably wouldn't be as attractive for someone to take. I...

    Electric vs Gasoline Compressor

I want to get a compressor so that I don't have to worry about where to get my tanks filled. I've already narrowed down the options and likely looking for a used Bauer Junior II or a new L&W 100. What I am trying to figure out is whether to just get a lower-maintenance and lower running cost...

    Gear Purchase from European Website

I can echo the importation experience with respect to VAT being removed once the shipping address is seemed to be outside the EU and I can also echo the lack of duties and paperwork into the US if the importation isn't too expensive and is clearly identified as water sports equipment. I did...

    Yellowstone Diving

Replying to keep an eye on this thread. Tbone's suggestion is enticing, but the dates of that trip aren't ideal. Since I live in Denver I'm always looking for notes on places to dive that are withing a couple of states away.

    Hi from Denver, CO

Hi everyone! I have been a longtime reader of the site, but finally decided to register. I have been diving for a very long time, but there have also been very long breaks during those 25 years. I have finally decided to get back into it seriously and have been looking for decent diving in the...
