Crazy, rough seas today in Westpunt

Arrived at Marazul last Thursday. Was here when tropical storm Ian and Julia passed by the island and the wave action was not even close to what happened this week. Wave action subsided greatly by this morning. Dove off of the south stairs twice today. Visibility was between 30 and 40 ft...

Oceanic High Pressure Quick Disconnect Hose

There is another thread here that covers the disassembly. O-rings for Oceanic/Sherwood HP QD Assemblies Short answer for removal is to get a QDC tool from Scuba Tools. Scubapro/Uwatec QDC Tool Kit Quick Disconnect Next step would be to find a replacement hose. The Sherwood/Oceanic HP...

O-rings for Oceanic/Sherwood HP QD Assemblies

Just converted another Oceanic HP QDC hose to Miflex High Pressure Carbon hose. To follow up on my previous post (#8), I used a AS568-107 O-Ring between the female end of the Milflex High Pressure Carbon hose and the OmniSwivel adapter to snug up the fit.

Question Curacao-What's Your Experience with Marazul Dive Resort?

Stayed at Marazul for a month - mid September to mid October this year (70 dives). At times, you could hear the construction (hammer drill noise or workers voices), if you were outside on the inland side of units 6 to 15 or the units near the office. Some noise in the unit if the windows were...

O-rings for Oceanic/Sherwood HP QD Assemblies

Piranha Dive Mfg. lists a 36" Inch Oceanic Pro Series Rubber Gauge Hose that looks like it has the correct male end to fit the Oceanic QDC but it is listed as out of stock. I added a Miflex High Pressure Carbon hose to my Oceanic QDC back in 2019. I used an OmniSwivel, PN: SZM-YFI, 3/8"-24...

    Bonaire Boots

I have been using the Seasoft Ti Stealth boots for shore diving in Bonaire, Curacao, Cayman Brac, and Grand Cayman for 15 years with no issues. Even though they are twice as thick (6mm vs 3mm) compared to the Seasoft Sunrays, I never have felt that they were too warm. Just have to make sure...

    Lab de Med

When we were at Marazul in September - October, our neighbors went to Coral Estates to get their antigen and PCR tests. The tests were given by a doctor that traveled to Coral Estates. Not sure if this was someone from Lab de Med or not but at least at this location you can plan on a one or...

Curacao: What has better diving: Westpunt vs Willemstad sides

Erik, A good snorkel route is along the base of the limestone cliff from stairs to stairs. Where you start depends on the current. The prevailing surface current is N to S but I have had the current shift during a dive on Marazul more than one time. Mornings can be a S to N at times and at...

Curacao: What has better diving: Westpunt vs Willemstad sides

February 2022 will be our 6th stay at Marazul. We have stayed approximately 16 weeks at Marazul during the 5 previous visits starting in 2017, excluding 2020 (COVID). We dive the house reef at least once a day. The resort sits about 40 feet above the water on a limestone bluff. The south...

Trip Report Sunscape Curacao, Ocean Encounters, and The Dive Bus

Branching out is how we got to Curacao. We have been to Bonaire 5 times and we were looking for something similar but different. Westpunt has a similar laid back feel that Bonaire has and that is why we chose this location vs the Willemstad area. You summed up the differences between...
