    What keeps you sane??

I rock climb and boulder when i get the chance. I've also dabbled in whitewater kayaking (have a prijon fly), but i don't know anybody else who whitewater kayaks (world of difference between just regular kayaking), so it's difficult to get opportunities to go. In my spare time I'm usually...

    Surface technique with Wing BC

One thing that I neglected to mention before is that some BCs have non-dumpable weight pockets in the back. With my BC, I can dump the weight in the back, but if your BC is different, it's probably not the greatest idea to put the majority of your weights in a pocket that you can't dump. Just...

    How Many Texans?

I guess i'm technically a texan because that's where i currently live most of the year, but with God's help, I plan on getting out of that place as soon as possible.

    Surface technique with Wing BC

I've got a Zeagle BC with a rear-inflation system and integrated weights. One thing that I have found to help a lot is to put my heavier weights in the back, and lighter weights in the front. This helps to compensate pretty effectively.

    Poll-

Put me in a gator-infested nasty zero-viz freshwater canal and i'll be happy. Very happy. Just as long as there's not a nest anywhere close.....

    New Diver Training Curriculum

Not sure if you're a cop or not, but if you are, definitely look into sending people to the National Academy of Police Diving in Miami, FL. Absolutely amazing training.

    Rain-x in mask?

yeah yeah yeah, i've done the white toothpaste thing a long time ago, and spit works fine for me, so I don't need to be spending extra $$$ on de-fogger. I just thought this up and was wondering if anybody had tried it before.

    Rain-x in mask?

Hmmmm........how long after putting the rain-x in did you do your dive? I'm thinking if I put it in now I might be good to go, because I won't have the opportunity to dive for at least another two weeks (:( ).

    Rain-x in mask?

Ok, so I was at the hardware store the other day getting rain-x for the jeep, and I noticed this interior rain-x stuff that prevents the windows from fogging up. I got it because this is a really big problem for me, and I put some on the windshield of one of our ambulances after I got done with...

    They walk amongst us

One day while I was working at the dive shop, a girl came in and started looking at the dutch springs pamphlet. She commented on how many things were in the water (plane, crane, bus, helicopter, boat, etc.) and then asked "Did they put them there?" I felt like saying "No, the plane and...

Log books... how often do places ask to see them?

I've never had my log book checked, but I keep it for other reasons.......say I wanted to do an 80' freshwater dive in my full 6.5 mm farmer john/top and hooded vest. I can go into my logbook and see how much weight I used last time, and if it was enough or too much. I can also check to see...

Father saves son's life with U/W mouth to mouth

There's a little bit more to it. The bodies of infants, toddlers, and geriatrics have a function that basically shuts their body off and puts it in "hibernation mode" (for lack of better words) when they come in contact with cold water. That's why some little kids have been pulled out of a...

What gauges do you check most often?

Another consideration should be how well you can see the computer underwater. The cobra is going to have bigger numbers, and many people prefer it to a wrist-mounted computer because of that. A wrist mount is also easier to lose (or in some cases, steal). It'd probably be a good idea to stop...
