    Vancouver, BC - Roll Call

Please add me I've moved to Vancouver recently, looking to go diving more often instead of going back to the island to dive. I'm up for a night dive any night of the week. Jeremy

Looking for a buddy or buddies :p

Well if you are around Vancouver before you head out to the island and want to go for a night dive, drop me a PM. I don't know any dive sites or anybody who dives here yet, my girlfriend did but she's wandered off to china for a while.

Just moved to Vancouver, anyone up for a dive?

I moved to Vancouver in August, but my work load was around 80 hrs a week, its finally settled down enough that I know my schedule and I would love some more dives. I haven't had a chance to dive since July, so I'd like to go for at least a couple slow and shallow(50' or so) dives to just poke...

    Solo in 20 ft dangerous?

I solo'd in a lake here to see what it was like, I really enjoyed it, first dive without a drysuit and hood etc. However I just floated around at 5-6 ft and looked for interesting things to see in the mud, or watched my bubbles go to the surface. I really loved it, my favorite dive so far. I...

What did you buy that you regret?

Cheaping out on my first light, I bought a wait for it wait for it 2 AAA powered light, throws almost 10 Lumens:) I do not however regret my black mask, keeps the ADD under control when you can only see a small window of stuff:)

ok guys what do you wear under your wetsuit?

Under wetsuit? before I discovered that I could get only cold instead of freezing by wearing a drysuit I wore skin Never saw any reason to wear stuff under my wetsuit kayaking, don't see any reason to wear stuff to cover myself up under my wetsuit diving other then to have one more thing to...

    Do you wear a snorkel?

Well after reading this thread, curiosity has got the better of me. I bought one at the same time as my mask, however it has stayed in the misc gear box since leaving the store. I think I'll try it on my easy dive tommorow just for kicks. If it takes my mask off its going back in the bag, but...

    Energy Drinks

Or do it by accident making iced coffee concentrate while missing an important detail. Later on while making the iced coffee they and their girlfriend might end up spending the next 36 hours up and during the first 12 both of them, being jittery, puking and heart rates over 120. Said kid might...

    fun ear issues/vertigo

Thank you, Seattle certainly isn't covered by my medical insurance, and I can't afford that kind of expense right now, but I'll try that link. So I need to look for an ENT doctor? I'll ask a doctor I hike with if he's knows any of those on the island, I'm sure there must be at least a few...

    fun ear issues/vertigo

Haven't had it on land, but twice since it happened I had a really sharp pain in my right ear and a bit of dizzyness for maybe 2 seconds before it vanished again. not sure if its related but still, it was unpleasant and I'm feeling cautious about getting back in the water until I figure out what...

    fun ear issues/vertigo

In the past 3 dives, I have had fun with my ears:D At random, once on dive 1 at 15min into the dive, and at 83ft following a wall, I felt a slight pressure in one ear and my body decided I was in a washing machine, I could still see my buddy and the wall so I decided it was vertigo(never had it...

BCs and Weights for Novice Diver

Just my 0.02 as another starting diver: I have a zeagle Back inflating BCD I like the flexibility of the back inflate, combined with integrated system AND a belt, I keep 14 lbs in the pouches and 24 on my belt. I find that keeping it all on the BC puts too much weight on my shoulders on land...

Short fills- how short is too short?

I was very happy for the last month or so, because all the rental tanks I was getting were overfilled to around 3400PSI, in 44F water the shops gauges were typically reading around 3500. I've never had a short fill, I just poke around the rental tanks till I find a nice tall one if I find one...

    hood bubbles

I just looked at my hood, and there are a series of small holes, I could PM you a pic of the size and position if you like. it doesn't hold air like my previous one did. I had a bad habit in OW of blowing air out my nose, my head looked like a balloon a lot of the time.

Buddy Issues, complaints and close calls??

I only had one bad experience with buddies, in my OW water class I was buddied with an older buisnessman, he didn't feel the need to bother reading the book, or do a check before the dive unless I really bugged him. On the other hand, my dive buddy probably has plenty of stories about my...
