    Avis on Bonaire

I usually rent from AB on Bonaire, but am going on a last minute trip and they are out of trucks. Avis appears to have trucks, but I have read awful things about Avis on Bonaire in posts from 3+ years ago. Ha anyone rented from them recently? Are they as bad as they used to be?

    Bugs?

Thanks. I'm thinking of bringing a Thermacell to use on our patio and to put under the table when we go to dinners.

    Current conditions on Bonaire

I'm wondering if we might be able to make this a pinned thread in this sub-forum where people can list the current conditions in bonaire including surface temperature, sea conditions, wind, and general weather as well as water temperatures and visibility. Photos are always welcome! I'll be on...

    Bugs?

My family and I are heading to Bonaire on Saturday and I’m trying to decide how much and what kind of repellent to bring. Can anyone tell me how buggy it currently is in Bonaire?

Question Blue Hole at Santa Rosa NM

The only time I dived Santa Rosa was to get my AOW and dry suit certification. I was very happy to be in my dry suit, which is more than can be said for the divers who were very cold in 7mm wetsuits. Bring a 7mm, or better yet get dry suit certified the same time as you get your OW.

Question How old are you and how long certified? Poll- please take part!

True. My three kids (14, 16, 18) are all certified and dive with me and my wife, but definitely aren’t active here.

Looking for Bonaire photo dive buddies, March 6-April2

Sorry for the off-topic post, but your photos are outstanding. Can you please share what your strobe/lighting setup is? I just picked up a TG-6 as an intro to U/W photography, and will be in Bonaire with my family from March 25-April 2 (you'll know it is us when you see five adult sized...

What size desiccant packs for TG-6?

I need to pick up some desiccant packs for an Olympus TG-6 in a housing, and it seems that some options like Moisture Munchers are marked way up for their name. Amazon has a lot of generic options, but does anyone have any idea how many grams of silica in the sachets would work best?

    Bonaire Chamber

Our family of five will be diving there in a few weeks. We will, of course, plan our dives conservatively but this is yet another reason to keep our DAN insurance up to date. I certainly hope we won’t be making any unplanned trips to Curacao…

    Sofirn SD05?

Well, that’s a bummer since we leave for Bonaire in exactly 3 weeks. I guess I need to come up with a contingency plan.

Thanks. How long did they take to ship from China?

    Sofirn SD05?

I’m thinking about picking up a few Sofirn SD05 lights for my family to use on occasional clear water night dives. Is anyone using these, and if so what are your opinions of them?

Thanks. Is that the Mini Flash that you are referencing?

Simple U/W camera setup for family sharing?

Thanks, all. I’m leaning towards a TG-6 with a housing and maybe a light to attach to the shoe on top of the housing.

Simple U/W camera setup for family sharing?

I have considered this, but have heard that GoPros leave a LOT to be desired when it comes to still photography.

Simple U/W camera setup for family sharing?

I’d like to find a camera setup that will work well for photos and video that my family can take turns using on an upcoming trip to Bonaire. I’m not sure whether I want to deal with lights, but having the ability to attach a red filter would be a bare minimum. None of us is an experienced...
