  1. Deep VI

    Coming to Key West Feb.10-24th.

Hello all, At long last I'll be able to dive again. Moved to AZ a couple years ago from Panama City, FL and am itching to get back in the water. Experience wise, I'm AOW/Nitrox and have about 250 dives under my weight belt. I've checked the sticky threads already and am looking for specifics...

    hovercraft PCB

Try "Googling" it, it is a public #. Good for flounder if you get there before the cattle boats do. Also tends to have a resident Goliath that likes to play in the wheelhouses. Have also seen a few sharks snooping around. Good inshore end of the day dive.

What do you consider basic spearfishing gear?

Would that be your new Oceanic series Dano? Love your gun, but that Ocean Rhino is looking mighty nice!

    Removing Rust from Dive Knife

Found out by accident today after gutting a Spanish Mackerel, that the oil took a few small rust spots right off. This goes along with the light coat of oil application I suppose.

Help from a member of "Spearboard"

There are always going to be a-holes, Spearboard included. My personal experience has been great. Although it does seem that the Cali sections can get a little hot. Take it with a grain of salt. If you look in the FL sections you will see that it is extensively SCUBA based spearing...

    Hello from Sumter, SC

My old stomping grounds, stationed at Shaw for 4 1/2 yrs. You'll have a great time in the warm water. Look in your own backyard. NC, SC, and GA all have great ocean diving. Welcome to the addiction!

How late can you dive the gulf wet?

    3mm! You're a beast. For me a 7/5mm w/ a 5/3mm hooded vest underneath is cozy for Dec-Feb. November a 5mm should be fine. I'm still in trunks and a rash guard.

My son just called and he made Staff Sgt!

On another note. Congradulations on your sons promotion. The "line" he was referring to, was his "line number". It's the order he will be promoted, the higher the line number the longer it will take to sew on his stripe.

My son just called and he made Staff Sgt!

You can not be freakin' serious!! Do you have any idea of how much of a pain in the ass it is just to call in an airstrike. To get the authorization just to ensure this is kept to a minimum goes through an entire chain of command. It isn't just two guys making a decision to blow some **** up...

    Spear Fishing

You have a really good resource in Chad Carney in your area. Check out Spearboard Spearfishing Community - Powered by vBulletin, there quite a few "I'm new to spearfishing" threads. Lots of good info.

    Longer gun?

I have a 52" Spearfishing Specialties Rhino w/ comm. muzzle, single loop SS line w/ 60" hybrid shaft. w/ 2 spare shafts(1 60" free shaft and 1 line shaft w/ tri-cut slip tip) that I'd be willing to part with. It's been a great gun, but I'm moving to water's where it'd be overkill. I'd be will...

    Learn Spearfishing

My personal advice is to get a poke pole to learn stalking techniques and really learn fish ID. The nice, color pics in the books generally do not translate underwater. I used a poke pole for about 8 months and slayed the porgies and flounder. Then I bought a 52" Spearfishing Specialities...

    Tiny air tank

If you're looking for a real alternate air source and then a pony/bailout bottle is the way to go. I wouldn't go less then a 13cf and for just little bit more length you can have my personal choice a 19cf. There are a bunch of mounting options, but I've found the "Quickdraw Pony Bracket" to be...
