hey Airborne... welcome. Talking of Kosovo, how was it. Guess who is getting plonked in either Banja Luca or Kosovo for 6 months this winter! Any info gratefully received. As for the diving... well they say when you are airborne the really does move, but with divers - they go deeper and...
hey doc,
well i'm back again.... the diving off barbados was pretty good. the viz wasn't that hot and you were right about the lack of big wildlife but the purposefully sunk wrecks make for a good playground! as for diveshops.... we used The Diveshop first - and put it this way i wouldn't go...
well i bought mine and love them dearly - but the foot pockets are huuuuuge. maybe previous poster has plates instead of feet! i have just had a trip to barbados trying them out - light and packable. as i have wrecked knees the last thing i need is huge fins but because i have always been a...
I was once given a bit of advise by my instructor... he said get a mask that fits well but if you are hard to fit, opt for a freediving mask. Aparently they give a fantastic fit on anyone as they are a bit smaller. Just thought it may be helpful.
oh so it has to be a powder toothpaste or will any old white toothpaste in a tube do? gel toothpaste here means blue or green stuff in a tube so by non gel i thought you guys meant the white stuff in a tube! Can someone clarify?
Hey thanks Warhammer - typical bloke, alien to the concept of cleaning the bath! Sorry for questioning you so late... I assumed you were this side of the pond, it is only 10am with me! Shall try a touch of Arm and Hammer and let you know how I get on!
Hhhmmm one question springs to mind - what do you regard as moderately experienced? I have only ever dived in East Africa, am a PADI MFA but have less than 20 dives to my name. I would say I was still a novice although my instructors have always told me I was part fish as I never had a problem...
What's that all about? I think I read here somewhere about if you have a new mask that you are supposed to scrub it with toothpaste beofre using it to prevent fogging. Well I have lovely new mask - what should I do to it beofre I take my maiden voyage with it? All advise gratefully received.
OK I have managed to score a 2 week trip to Barbados next month to work mostly but was hoping to get a bit of diving in. I will be staying near the airport area so the south east part of the island. Are theere any dive shops there? What is the diving like.. from maps cobbler's reef looks...
Great I will squelching my brand new boots and fins.... my tropics gear seemed a little optimistic for the UK! DiverDave - good luck on your course.... mine is the 28 29 April. Tell me how yours is if it is before mine - I want to know how much prep to do etc....... damn I sound keen!
Thanks for the congrats guys... and nice to see some Brits posting - the time difference with our American cousins makes fluid conversation difficult! OceanSpirit - the lake is Wraysbury - a dive-centre lake thing, not private and apparently dive shops / accommodation on site. Will post more...
Has anyone had any experience with TUSA Cetus fins.... you know, shorter in length than normal but shaped like a whale tail when you look at them as a pair?
....when I joined the board - thanks. And those who said they wanted to know how my next courses went... well passed my PADI MFA yesterday. Yippee! So Rescue diver is booked for a couple of weeks time (in a horrid lake somewhere near Heathrow!). Well just thought you would like to know.
OK - no clue if you can shed some light on this. I was in Africa earlier this year (Jan) diving. While I was out there I got dysentry and was pretty ill, but got back into diving 2 days after I finished throwing up. Anyway the rest of the trip went fine apart from the fact that one mornig my...
maybe this should be in the medicine bit? I will post it there too but hopefully some one will have an answer! (OK I'm new here, it may take some time fo rme not to screw it up!)
