Help me find a new place to live.

I'd disagree on this... evening air temps have been in the high 40s / low 50s in the LA area... it was warmer in the ocean at 61 degrees a few nights ago! Curious to see what other responses you get back... The only positive thing I have to say about CA lately is that we can dive year round as...

Container to take car smart key fob down with me.

Not sure how secure those trailer hitch combo safes actually are (or any other external safe attached to the car for that matter). Personally know of crime victims here in CA where hitch safe was broken into, vehicle key removed, and all valuables left "secured" inside vehicle stolen (wallets...

    Wasted Days And Wasted Nights

Hmm, didn't consider that! All of our diving last 2 months has been LA Harbor area (White's Pt to the LB breakwall) and conditions have been cold but viz decent/good. Have been hoping for the kelp to recover but haven't seen that either even with the cold water...

    Wasted Days And Wasted Nights

Phil, go around the peninsula and dive the south side of PV/San Pedro! Conditions have been surprisingly good compared to what you've experienced on the west side. Heard about great conditions on the Olympic II and went last week for great conditions (better than Catalina recently!). Video (not...

LA Times: Retired Teacher and Seahorses...

Neat. Was in touch with him last year but never had a chance to actually dive with him. Sent Rog a note letting him know. =)

Redondo Beach Dive Site; Topaz Pilings

Did they recently change that? The posted signage I saw last time (you can see here on Google Streetview) says No Parking when park is closed (which is basically no parking 10PM to 5:30AM). Malaga is no parking 9PM to 5AM but Haggerty's down the street is fine 24/7. =)

Redondo Beach Dive Site; Topaz Pilings

I've been meaning to dive this area... just checked the Google Streetview... parking looks like it's only limited 8AM-10AM on Tues/Wed for street cleaning (which is much better than at Vets which closes at night) but it probably fills up with people going to the beach when weather is nicer? I'm...

Long Beach Dive Site; Tammy, the shipwreck formerly known as the African Queen

Appreciate your posts! Looking forward to the next 3 about the other sites on your map between the breakwall and the Tammy. =)

I just saw a speared GSB from Catalina on Instagram

Was wondering yesterday if possibly a mistaken ID but couldn't think of another dark fish. Didn't realize that opaleye could NOT have spots! I've always identified them by the bright white spot on the back (per image below "occ. absent in large fish"). Suspect fish pectoral fin shape does look...

Looks like the fish is on a fillet table not on the deck: BLACKTIP 31" Fillet Table | West Marine Fish looks to be about 14-16" long?

Discover Scuba Diving aka DSD aka "Resort Course" question?

Jim, Sorry that you may have misinterpreted my posts. I am, in fact, still inquiring on behalf of my friends who participated on a DSD. As I mentioned in my previous post, the boat dropped off the other certified divers for their first dive, then my friends (and me) to do their first DSD dive...

Discover Scuba Diving aka DSD aka "Resort Course" question?

Thanks for your responses so far! BlueC5Kitten - Your experience is pretty much what I had expected (and experienced previously as well)! One tank to be used for exercises followed up by a separate open water dive (using the same equipment). Then, the second tank for the second open water...

Discover Scuba Diving aka DSD aka "Resort Course" question?

Hi everyone, I'm new here to this forum but have been an active diver for the past year having logged over 2,000 minutes of bottom time and have been trying to get as many of my non-diver friends involved! So I stumbled upon this vast online community while trying to find some information...
