On arrival back in Phuket I decided to do another 2 days diving, this was prompted by rumours of a nice pair of Harlequin Shrimp at one of the local sites.
When in Phuket I usually dive with a company called Sea Bees, I found them after trying a few different operators.
Their day boat is quite big, and in high season can have 25 divers on it – but the dive deck is huge compared to the other boats so you do not feel cramped when gearing up.
With such a large number of customers, and quite a long surface interval the dives are limited to 60min. This is reasonable in Phuket, there are others with shorter times.
They also prepare the food (Breakfast/Lunch/Snacks) on the boat, and it’s certainly the best I’ve had on a day boat in Phuket. The company is German run, so 50% of the customers and dive staff are German. All the dive staff speak English so briefings and chat are not a problem.
First day was to Shark Point and Koh Doc Mai, we were not disappointed.
There were several resting Zebra Sharks (Locally known a Leopard Sharks) at Shark Point and at Koh Doc Mai the HQ Shrimp were waiting to have their photo taken.
HQ Shrimp (Koh Doc Mai)
Second day was off to Racha Yai where most of the diver training is done.
Again pleasant surprises with critters.
Seahorse (Racha Yai)
Thecacera sp. (Racha Yai)
Exhausted, I packed my dive gear and prepared to return to work.
