Hope that this will help you.

If there is a lot of particles in the water, then keep your strobe switched off and use your custom white balance with an ISO 200 below 5 metres or the underwater mode (that little fish symbol) to avoid getting backscatter in your photographs. If there aren't any particles, then for the kind of photo that you took above, try an ISO of 200, aperture of f8 or f11 using the AV mode. This should really help to capture some lovely colours.

Thank you. It seems like most people bypass the auto features and use the P or A settings. From the looks of today's weather I will get a chance to try your suggestion this weekend.
