1st Dive out of Class in Catalina

My friend and I who were recently certified for Open Water want to book a Catalina Dive. Does anyone have suggestions,

Boat Dive (which Boat)?

Boat vs. Shore Dive (Should we book a boat trip or take a ferry and just do a shore dive and what's the easiest way to get our gear to the water)

...and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We're in the Huntington Beach area.....
