I am really enjoying my time here on ScubaBoard during those long surface intervals that I call my day job. A couple of buddies turned me on to the forum the last couple of weeks and I really enjoy reading the reports, seeing the pics and the instructor forums are also a great place to discuss training.

Here's my way of giving back with a deal for ScubaBoard Members that are interested in training.

Bring a buddy and split the training fee.

Can you PM me with a little more info?
I'll be in Lauderdale from 1/24-1/27 and might want to do my Rescue while there.

Thanks,
Mark

Good idea. We could do Rescue while you are down here but you'd probably sleep the rest of your vacation :)

The last class that I did, I was home passed out by 8 PM each night. It was tough running around the beach calling for pizza trying to get people out of the water and doing CPR.

I was just looking at your pictures... was that your Rescue class at BHB where someone actually called 911 instead of calling for pizza?

That's me but our group had been calling for pizza since 8:30 AM when we arrived at the site and checked in with the park staff on the training we would be doing all day. Oh these guys loved to rub in the pizza orders all day since at the time I had a part time job delivering pizza at night :)

I am still not sure if the call came from a person in the park or a boat on the water. The Coast Guard was the first to show up a good 2 mins before EMS that's why I think it was a boat that called it in. The CPR Dummy is coming to the beach next time. They get pretty beat up in the sand but that's better than a false alarm.

Actually the next day, I spoke with a local boat captain that former coast guard and she mentioned that she checks in with the local coast guard when they do courses there at Blue Heron. I had previously only checked with the park staff. I'll be casting a much broader notification next time.

Next time I see you at the bridge, I'll have to say Hi!

What number do you use to notify the Coast Guard? I always talk to the lifeguards prior to my rescue classes...
