We are meeting in the far North West (far corner from pier and closest to ocean) at 2:00 p.m. on Friday 26 November the day after turkey day. Bring 2 tanks and your night dive gear. If the site proves to be good, I am game for a night dive too.
We are intending to dive the Santa Monica Break wall which runs parallel to shore and is approximately 350 yards from shore and 130 yards form the end of the pier. Please note we are NOT diving the PIER we are diving a break wall 130 yards away. Parking is $7.00.
What to expect? Dont know. Dive site books only mention the break wall exist, but dont describe it. I have talked to some who have dove it. Visibility is often poor here. But if the visibility is good, I am told this is a very good dive. Given the location, I would expect some current on the swim out which is why we are starting well away from the pier. From the satellite photos the break wall does not break the surface except intermittently and is about 15 feet wide .
