A New Dive Buddy for Dr. Bill

This weekend I will acquire a brand new dive buddy... and it won't be the lovely lady I've been searching for.

It is kind of a miracle. I never expected to have kids, but then discovered I had a great son who was already 17 and I didn't have to change a single diaper. Kevin is now 23 and this weekend he will achieve his OW SCUBA certification on Saturday (thanks to Mauricio and Sea Stallions in Lake Forest where Kevin lives), and we will do our first dives together on Sunday at the Casino Point dive park.

Now when Kevin first entered my life, I sent a picture of him to my sisters. All three of them said there was no need for a paternity test, and I agreed. The poor guy was the spitting image of me back at that age.

Just to make sure you can tell the two of us apart, Kevin will be the one in the brand new wetsuit and gear. I'll be wearing my "holy" wetsuit which is about to lose its first leg (I retire them when they lose both legs).

I'm really excited about this new dimension in our relationship. I couldn't quite gather up the courage to rock climb with him.

If he ends up not completing his OW at Casino Point Saturday, and you two come to the Crabs event at Vet's instead, I volunteer to supervise a couple of non-official tour dives. It's the least I could do for that ride on the Dr. Bill-mobile

(Of course if he chooses not to dive in the vast sandpit we call Vets... well maybe there's hope for him yet)

Bill, I really am happy for you, but I do feel bad for Kevin, having you as his new dive buddy! You know I’m just kidding! I hope you really have a wonderful relationship. Having children is truly a wonderment, one not to be taken for granted. You have your work cut out for you Bill but I have faith Kevin is going to be very happy you found each other.
