Advice ref 1st camcorder and housing

I am looking to buy a simple setup to take some video when I am hobby diving. Although I am in the UK I only tend to dive on holiday (US, Maldives etc) so would only be using the setup in tropical / light conditions. I don't really want to go above £1000 (for camcorder and housing) and want to be able to use the camcorder above land too!

I have looked at the JVC Everio GZ-MG175 EK but have read mixed reviews. Ideally I'd like to go with a HDD or DVD camcorder.

So, any suggestions welcome! Thanks.
