AL doesn't have any silly spearfishing regulations :) Get your license and go have fun off the beaches, jetties, bridge, seawall, whatever.

No silly regs, but:

Resident AL Saltwater Fishing License: $29.00
Resident AL Spearfishing Endorsement: $06.00
Total: $35.00

Florida Resident Buying AL Saltwater Fishing License: $55.00
Florida Resident Buying AL Spearfishing Endorsement: $08.50
Total: $63.50

To top it off, licenses in Alabama are now valid from Sept 1 through Aug 31, so if you buy a license today, you have 8 months of fishing before it expires (I've already written my nasty letter to the editor) :redhot:

last weekend we had good vis so spearing wasn`t a problem but like bugman said, if its low vis i`d leave them in the vehicle. As far as the temps go i dove in a 5mm suit and hood with glove and was quite ok

I've only ever been asked for a spearfishing license, its <$10 for a resident.

Resident License Information and Applications Packets

SPEARFISHING: Allows residents age 16 - 64 and nonresidents age 16 and over to spear commercial or nongame fish in freshwater and saltwater completedly {sic} submerged. Freshwater and/or saltwater fishing license also required. Annual licenses expire August 31 annually. Nonresident seven day trip licenses available. Cost: varies - see application

If I could get away with just a spear license, I'd sign up!

I've always gotten away with it :) Even the spearfishing tournements check only spearfishing license, and nothing else.
