I was wondeiring if anyone could give me some specifics on shore diving in the Alpena, MI area. I'll be up there over July 4th week and was looking for a few good spots. If there are any links to sites in that area, that would be perfect.

I'm also interested in something offshore a bit, if anyone has charter ideas or a boat.

ehuber, We have a couple of wrecks that are accessible from shore, The Shamrock is off a public beach "Thompson Beach" on State street there are a couple more but I don't know exact locations. Rockport is North on US 23,(about 10 miles) and is a old deep water port, diving around the piers are interesting, for some diving offshore get a hold of Joe or Karen at www.tbscuba.com

If you want to spend a day up in Cheboygen, there is a great location where the lumber mill once was. Lot's of old piers to dive in less than 20' with easily 30+ of visibility. We go up there for the weekend after labor day every year and still find "treasure".
