An alternative to shears?

I'm looking at a Kyocera CS124 scissor. The handles are supposedly carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. The blades are ceramic, so they're ultra hard and rustproof. My only question is whether the rivet is plastic too, but it appears to be.

I am curious about this too. Someone was asking about cutting kevlar microfilament on another board and I suggested ceramic, since it worked in the lab:

The look nice, although I'll be they are expensive (and therefore tough to lose). I tend to just buy cheap trauma shears and throw them away every couple of months.

30 bucks isn't cheap but it's not painful to lose either.

It looks like the ceramic blades will stay nice and sharp, but how rugged are they?

A nice thing about regular old EMT shears is that they are pretty rugged, and can even cut an penny in two.

How about doing the "cut a penny in half" test once you get the ceramic shears and post a report.

Might not work with gloves -- the ad indicates those are fairly short blades, so the finger slots are likely pretty small.

I think you are gong to need the bigger ones. Either the 140s or 182
