Last weekend, this tube containing fairly equally spaced embryos of 'something' drifted past me - tube roughly 40mm (1.5") diameter, and about 1.5 metres long. Had only just got in the water and photos taken quickly in current, so quality not so good - but any ideas what it could be an egg case of ?



 
Looks like a salp colony. Salps are a type of free-floating tunicate.
 
I agree with salp. In Bonaire one time the water was thick with them. The night dive was very strange because you couldn't see them all and they would bump into you or worse, touch your face. Yeech!
