Nope. I picked one up that was just rolling around at the water line in front of CCV. As I was polishing it, it burst. Smelled sort of like cabbage cooking. It was a 'natural' smell but definately diferent than the algae smell in my pond.
 
Ah yes, the ones on the beach have "gone bad". You should only be sniffin' freshly plucked ones.
