By dive cruise, you mean a liveaboard? There are lots of liveaboards in the Carribean. Perhaps give more idea what kind of diving you are interested in and budget. You must have some ideas on destinations you are interested in? Then people can answer more specific questions.

I wouldn't wait long, I bet many will start getting booked over New Years if they're not already.

If it's a cruise ship then...I went on The Carnival Valor to Grand Caymen, Roatan Honduras, Belize and Costa Maya Mexico. Got plenty of diving in. I didn't book through the ship and still made it onboard ontime.

Cruise ship diving is a great way to experience a sampler of the Caribbean. In two separate cruises, I have been to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, Haiti (not great diving), Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Playa del Carmen. It gives you an idea of where you might want to go back and spend a week sometime.

I think SingleDivers.com is offering such a trip, but I believe its full.

A cruise ship and a liveaboard are very different experiences, diving and otherwise. If you're looking for a liveaboard experience you might not find a cruiseship acceptable, and vice versa.

here's some other liveaboards-

On a cruise ship, you either have to go with the cruise ship arranged excursions, which have a reputation for being expensive, cattleboats, and not taking you to the better diving. This is not always true, but often. These things may bother you less as a new diver. Or you can arrange your own diving, which is usually cheaper and better, but means worrying about the cruiseship schedule - maybe taking a long time to get off the ship to make your dive as usually the people on ship sponsered excursions get off first, or missing departure if you're late. I think arranging your own diving in each port would be easier once you have more famiarility with diving routines and some of these destinations, or else do a lot of research first.

True. When I went on the Carnival Valor to the Western Caribbean, I was with a group of divers. We had booked the dives on each island/port ahead of time on our own and even chose our divesites. We didn't have to worry about missing the ship because the dive boat was all ours. It waited for us at the marina and got us back with enough time for shopping before boarding the ship. They even provided the shuttling.
