So I only deviate a bit--because of my late start in diving--on age and no kids at home. Interesting survey!

Negative on all, except income. Maybe I should quit

Age – Between 38 & 53 years old – Mean: 45 Median: 46 - 56 age 32

Well I hit 5 of those just not necessarily the 5 I would have liked to hit. Oh well maybe I will hit the lottery.

Correct only on Male and home/land owner. Age 70, no mortgage, no children, widowed, retired union construction electrician, retirement income about $70K, farm income about the same lately what's with the price of corn and soybeans. That'll change soon when the rest of the world realizes that the ethanol thing is a loser.

According to the DEMA website (link: DEMA - top article) the average "active diver" is:

  • Age – Between 38 & 53 years old – Mean: 45 Median: 46
  • 76% are male
  • Household Income – 56% make between $75,000 and $100,000
  • Occupation – 80% are White Collar/ Professional/ Technical/ Management
  • Home ownership – 93% own their own home
  • Mortgage amount – Median of $148,000
  • Marital Status – 71% married
  • Presence and age of children – 17% have kids under 18

The rest of the PPT contains a lot marketing junk, but I found that bit interesting. A lot of the subsequent pages focus on the baby-boomer effect (apparently baby-boomers are natural divers, which doesn't bode well for the industry, given the population pyramid).

But the stereotype is pretty darn close to home for me (except that I am slightly less than 76% male :lotsalove:). How about others?

Well that rules me out :p! I'm 100% female i hope! :)

* Presence and age of children – 17% have kids under 18 -- Well, I have two grandkids under 18....
